Looking for options for what rear end to use on my 35 Chevy coupe standard, and help or (options ) would be very helpful, thanks Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Depending on the drive train either a early Camaro (heavy duty) or an S-10 (lighter duty). Here is a width guide that might help. http://www.carnut.com/specs/rear.html
s10 is very narrow just cleared the springs on my 35 master .so i had custom rims made ,looked pro streeted
I used a 10 bolt out of a two wheel drive Chevy S10 with a Posie rear leaf spring kit in my 33 Chevy. Work well.
S10 4x4 rears are wider than 4x2s, ZR2 4x4s are wider still (and 8.5") you'll find whatever width you decide on, one out of a blazer will be cheaper and easier to find than a pickup one.
Has anybody used a 90 jag rear end in a 35 Chevy coupe ? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
So I'm getting ready to order and have built a ford nine inch rear end for my 35 Chevy coupe, I believe 50 1/2 inter flange to flange is close to correct width, but don't want to make a mistake, any input on how to measure this ? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
My 10 bolt Chevy rear in my 33 Chevy master is 54 inches from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface.
What did your rear end come out of if you do t mind me asking ? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yes I can understand that , do think it could handle the tork of 364 nailhead with around 400 horse Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
S10 rears are stronger than you might think. The 4.3 v6 was pretty peppy little engine in the late 80's and early 90's. I've got a S10 under my '34 Chevy coupe. I've also had two S10s with 4.3s.
I've got a 2000 4X4 S10 under my 36 standard fits great... may be some pics of it in my build thread... just had to grind off the old spring perches and weld on new ones in the correct location Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Well shoot ! Maybe I shouldn't go and spend 3 grand on a ford 9 then , thanks for input Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
The S10s had a rear end with 7.625" ring gear and another with 8.5" ring gear. The codes in the glove box for the gear ratios are GU4 - 3.08, GU5 - 3.23, GU6 - 3.42, GT4 - 3.73, GT5 - 4.10 and HC4 - 4.56
Sweet! much gratitude, that all I need to know, except some had disc breaks right? Do you know what year? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yes some had disc but not sure what years. Believe it or not I got a lot of info searching on ebay. I bought mine local though because I got a better deal. Hope you find what you need. Tom
