    16 hours of grinding, smoothing, filling and sanding and the top half is in primer. I kind of like the 2 tone look. What do you think?

    Cool ride - no two tone, unless candy apple red blends

    I'm really leaning towards bright red, almost orange, but still red. The raw metal just looks so cool.

  8. The candyapple Mazmainian car always got my vote, so bright red works for me.
    Run it in bare metal till you get tired of it, then shoot a coat of jam over it.

    How about leaving it raw with Red lettering?

    I thought about leaving it in raw, but now that the top half is in primer I'm gonna need to paint it.

    To paraphrase an old NASA saying,

    That is incredible.

    Getting this thing in primer has got me excited about this thing. I love it when I'm all jazzed about a project.

    it runs and drives. I'm not good at video or I would submit a clip.

  15. Awesome STEEL car, congrats. I am a Gasser snob so totally ignore me but IMHO, the car is screaming for a set of 'proper' front runners;

    It's gonna look sweet no matter the paint. I am in the minority, I like the front wheels. With that said, I bought a pair of ET front runners that look like yours. However, they were not machined properly for the lug nuts so they had to be returned, after the tires were mounted. Speedway took care of the issue, but I went with wheels to match the back instead. I still think the ET's looked better, but after all the hassle, didnt want them on it.

  17. Here are some 'raw' Willys I have seen over the years;
    This guy was at the St. Louis Gasser Gathering a decade ago, Stock Willys 392 power.

    Then he showed up at the Thompson Gasser Gathering in Ohio a couple years later with this fantastic 'badge' welded into the hood;

    Not totally raw but great patina, shows up at Bakersfield area rod runs.

    Chry terror rules. I have A car that is almost a twin to it..The front wheels on the 41 were easy for me, I have a few other options and will get to that when it's painted.

    Incredible (as usual :D) work Jim. The raw look really stands testament to the work you've put into it, amazing.
    If you go this route, Chevy pick-ups of the late 60's/early 70s had an orange/red that was really an eye popper. No metallic to it, just pure, bright, color. Single stage would give an era look to it. Always liked it, as straight reds go.
    Nice work!

    Ground the welds, cleaned it up and sprayed the inside with Bedluner today. Not much but it's progress.

    A little spray on bed liner for sound and rattle proofing. Blocked the top and re-primered it. I'm ordering the grill, lights and handles today. It's getting close! The second pic is it next to my buddies 9 second 52 willys.

    I called willys repro parts today. There was an answering machine that stated due to the economic situation in our country right now they will be closed until the 10th of august, last week when I called the machine stated that they were so busy filling orders that they could only answer the phone before noon. Does anyone know where I can get parts to finish my car?

    There are some other companies that you might be able to get the parts from. Somebody is making the parts for the fiberglass willys manufacturers. You might start by checking with the companies that build the replica cars but the best quality parts will be from Willys Replacement Parts unless you can find original parts and that will take even longer.

    Sixty two Corvettes were painted a Roman red. It looked like bright orange until it was rubbed out.

    I blocked out the roof and shot some silver suede paint on it. I like it for now.
