  1. Most of us are familiar with the original grilles.

Always liked the look of a 54 Desoto grill, and they fit in a 53 Ford very well. 58818955_934.jpg

A friend of mine had a 53. He did the old mesh, cabinet door pull trick.

My '53 Victoria sported a '55 Desoto grille, with the oval parking/turn sig. lights. Excellent fit, got the grille from one of the 'condemned' wrecking yards, just south of San Francisco. Could see the Desoto from the freeway, took it out and paid the man $15.00. Chrome was perfect.

  12. Your right but if I find the right '54 coupe the boss lady will be on the loosing team with another build. :D HRP

My '52 has a tube grille in it (not even really tubes, they're like half moon shells, pretty sure it's an old Cal Custom one, very thin) but I'm not fond of it, I had planned a '55 Ford bar but using the '52 parking lights which I can't really change without redoing the paint, but now I'm leaning towards a '54 Chevy bar with extra teeth and the Chevy parking lights removed, I've got a '51 Kaiser bar I can use the ends from to cap off the Chevy grille bar.

Been wanting to do it for years but never seem to get to it.

My '53 from high school has a 52 DeSoto grille but it's poorly installed by me when I was a teenager and I have a proper grille pan plus some extra teeth without the parking lights to redo it properly, again, someday.

I feel like the black glasstop with the center bullet removed gets the effect ruined by that little blue oval Ford badge tacked on.

Its a 60 T-bird scoop welded to the original Ford hood.

Neat story, i went with a friend to look at a 55 Buick from an auto trader ad when i was 15 (1996) and the guy was de-customizing a really wild 60 T-bird he said was "a Starbird car". He was welding on a whole new front clip and couldn't use the hood because it had rounded corners, sold me the old hood for $25, and that's the scoop on the car.

Was it bullshit? Hard to say. The scoop was opened up and reshaped with round rod, really nice job done. I remember the car well enough to recognize it if I saw a picture but never could find a match.

If its true, its a shame what happened to it, but i didn't know any better at the time either. Makes a neat story i guess.
