  2. Thanks. Yeah it was just one corner that was out of whack really. I should be glad I found them.

  3. Welded in. Had to make it in 3 pieces. It wasn't too bad of a job.

  4. Yesterday was my dad's 65th birthday.
So on his special day I let him sand the hood for 6 hours.

Big block with long rams would look great in there.

  8. They would be worth more than the car.

  9. Had to cut it out. Curiosity got the best of me. I'm glad I did. I can get at all the weak metal.

    They are a bit pricey.

On that dogleg, you use a form or just hammer and dolly and planishing hammer?

  12. Maybe I got lucky. I cut out a piece. Drew a line where I thought I should "planish" it. Then proceeded to planishing until it looked good. Then I used the stretcher and shrinker to fold the edges over and get some of those compound curves.

Thanks. I was pretty sure you would of mentioned a form if you used one, but thought I would ask anyway. Looks good.

  14. Today is your day. I decided to tackle the top of the fender. I made it in sections. My uncle said don't get stressed out trying to make it in one piece. No way was that a one piece deal.
    So it's 5 pieces.

You are going in deep and doing good work. Definitely up to the challenge of bringing the car back to life. Thanks for sharing your progress.

  19. I put the fender back on to help me with this piece. This is more challenging than capping the eyebrow.

I love stories like this. You sir are a very talented fabricator. Too many people would have said "Four door, terminal rust, nah let it go." The old girl will be mighty grateful that you spared her from the scrapper. Cool family history too.

Seriously though I hope that car gets to see the road again. The bigger the fins the better
