Checking a fellow HAMBers brakes and I see this, long shoe to the front, short to the rear. The wheel cylinder has a dual piston setup; 1 1/4" to the front and 1" to the rear. Is this correct? I don't think so, but I thought I'd ask the eggspurts. Thanks in advance...
That's correct. On "Locheed" brakes (non self energizing) the big shoe goes to the front & the big end of the wheel cyl. goes to the front.
As Pete Eastwood said. 1939 Fords use Lockheed style brakes and are not self-energizing. The long shoe goes to the front and so does the larger dia of the wheel cylinder. This is true for all 4 wheels. Photos will show left front and left rear.
