That is an incredible looking hot rod, if it's built right and has the "look" what does it matter what the body is made of? In the U.K. The steel bodies are few and far between and what is available is out of reach for most people. It is my ambition to own a deuce 5 window one day and i know it will have to be glass, if I get one half as nice as yours I will be very happy
The glass bodies available over here need a lot of work to get them looking right, here's a few of my favourites, all glass, all cool!

Love the red one. Is that electronic fuel injection ? By the way I cut the hell out of that body and reassembled it the way I wanted it. I'm better with fiberglass than I am with a welder!

I love the car and your ideas. It will be a great ride when you finish and keep you busy in the meantime. Mine is a Wescott that took several years to build after I retired and never thought about a steel one on my budget. Keep posting the photos.

Wescott started building 'glass parts in 54. Free Haterade for those who don't like it ;) I'm diggin it man, it's got "the look" and I think you hit the stance just right. Hairpins? Check. Quick change? Check. Vintage "period" rolling stock? Check. Ok it's official, you're in there like swimwear! Thanks for letting us in on it.

  10. If I'm not mistaken, the first glass 32 bodies were laid up in 1955, for drag racers! I like this car, really like the wheels and the chop, good eye!

  12. As an ancient hot rodder (74) I am more about the mechanicals than the body. My first post retirement build was a glass 32 Ford roadster on the best chassis I could afford. In the near term my steel 31 Model A coupe will hit the road. Up next is a 32 Ford coupe of one ilk or another. I would like steel and it is within reach but fiberglass is not out of the question. Glass and steel both have their attributes and their shortcomings. Using what you can get a hold of is the first rule of hot rodding. The second is making what you can get work. So, if life gives you lemons make lemonade and if life gives you fiberglass then build a hot rod. Or, in other words, I like what you are doing!!

I know it's just another SBC, but I also found a 1957 Chevy 265, has canister filter, View attachment 3483158 View attachment 3483160 paid $100 and took it home. All the accessories were included. Got it home and took it apart. Check out the pics and see what you think. P.S. I might go thru this and go to Bonneville for the 135 MPH Club, maybe the 150 MPH also. Pulled the heads no ridge yet, .010 over.

  18. Your car looks GREAT........................

We have a glass 32 body on one of ours. It had a smooth recessed firewall that screamed cheezy Street Rod!

Our solution was one of the glass 32 firewalls from Speedway (they have them in $$$$$ metal too) for about $250. Attached it directly over the recessed firewall with screws and panel bond. Also added a metal firewall lip from Brookville for the hood lacing etc. Also got a set of metal firewall feet from Brookville but never installed them.
    Very happy with the results.........

Cut my firewall up to try and look stock, with the cowl lip and bump outs. Got the metal feet also and modified the floor and bump out to mount the body and floor. Worked great! IMG_2190.JPG

I promised some pics of the interior wood and steel install, all form UPAC. I used a 2 part adhesive from Aviall used in high end aircraft interior fabrication. Trunk is all oak veneer plywood.

[ but many here will not accept a glass body/full aftermarket chassis as part of the traditional world

  25. I look at a lot of build threads and try to learn new things all the time. I'm interested in observing skill and workmanship, craftsmanship, ingenuity and style. Materials are up to the individual. If I see something I like I will often post an encouraging comment, if I see something I don't like I just keep walking right on by. Quality build threads float, bad ones sink all on their own.

Lots of good stuff going on here, you've got great skills. Keep at 'er.
