What is most folks' preferred method to conceal wiring in frame from front crossmember to behind firewall? Drilled hole w grommet? Small plate w fitting? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
How are you going to protect the wiring from bouncing around inside the rail, scraping against those standoff plates, the pointy side of bolts, and the backside of weld beads? My preferred method is to NOT make things harder to get at and fix.
Alchemy, I figured I'd only have to run headlight wires, and I'd make a small bundle, and shrink wrap. The small plates are beltsanded and deburred, but the pack would still have a tendency to bounce a little. I suppose I could run them down outside, in box plate corner... Thanks guys... it's kind of a long story on the direction I'm taking on chassis, especially since you won't see much of it later once it's covered up... but I've always wanted to do one this way Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I got the corner welded, and trimmed out... 1st plate is fitting pretty decent. Also tacked the cups in rear DS plate Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Street rod shops I have worked in make a tube on inside of boxing plate and weld the inlet under car somewhere and the outlet by the front crossmember
Hahaha yeah yeah I know... we are rolling now... just gonna pick away a bit at a time Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Gonna pull a 33 front cross member out today, to mock front box plates around. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
looks good, I am following along now. What part of KY are you in. My son is building an A in Lexington.
Very nice project. Instead of permanently welding the spacers, couldn't you attach a welding rod to one or two and pull it towards the end of the boxing plate as you weld outwards. With the cups the spacer would need to straddle them top and bottom to pull them along. Just a thought.
I'm out of town for work. I'll check later this week and holler back Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Why are you going to rechop it? I dig the heavy chop, and the Caddie, and the quickie. Keep at it, -Abone.
Abone, I wanted some lean on A pillars, and a little rake to the roof... it's decent now, but never suited me when Dad and his buddy did it long time ago Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I checked from top of frame down to top of front member= 3.060" Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
When i want to hide wires in a boxed frame i weld in a piece of conduit that hides under the body and comes out under or right by the headlight stand...Hell sometimes i put conduit in the inner structure of my bodies cause i hate seeing wiring...
Doin a little grinding and welding today...it's slow goin, but at least I'm goin... Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
