    Mike,

My grandparents grew up during the depression and the "make it do or do without" mindset was instilled in me as I grew up. I appreciate your build and your approach to it. I am really looking forward to watching your car come together.

    Hey, "Sporty 45",
Nope, but it was full of them! Go back to the first page and check out the back window ( Looks like Melvin Purvis used it for target practice)

Those rails ( boxed with 1/4 " plate) are indeed imported from your NY Emporium, Robert.
Front X-member is an aftermarket item I got to put in my roadster but didn't.
Didn't use the rear X-member I got at Fitchburg so I could use old "Chassis Engineering" coil overs I got from Timmy Carroll's barn ( local Hot Rod hero and Madman - RIP) DSCN2556.JPG

This "build thread" is going to be kinda all over the place because , as you all know, these things go together and come apart MANY times during the process. And shit happens in between.
Ryan has outlawed naked women ( on a car site????), but between photo sessions of this meticulously put together future classic ( that my kids have to download for me), I will attempt to keep you entertained. Thankyou for your support and understanding.

    That being said; Intermission DSCN3033.JPG

'68 Mustang steering box with shortened, reversed pitman arm
Drag link made from an old tie rod
Handcrafted (?) upper mounts for the tube shocks
"Hoop" steering arm, shortened 1.5" for clearance

checking to see if running board brackets will fit ( of course they will, after I remodel them!)
I'd like to run full fenders , splash aprons and running boards ever since I built this roach a couple of years ago--- ( another erector set, chopped 3", channeled 4")

Finally starting to look like something. Once the tranny mount is located, I'll have to work on the steering column and brake pedal- 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag! Plywood blocks are centering the motor in the frame ( not structural). DSCN3053.JPG

To be honest, I cheated a bit- I've been pecking at this for a while, but didn't have pictures and hesitated to post among all the excellent builders and projects on the HAMB.
But finally decided WTF, why not! ( turning 69 this year and needed SOMETHING to do!)
Thanks for your encouragement; I shall Forge On!

  20. I understand what you mean. I haven't posted any on my 30 Buick I'm building for the same reason. I'll be 68 next month so maybe when I'm 69 I'll do a do a build thread on mine. Besides I can't keep up with that youngster Flavin

Mike what steering box are you using, also what's your plan for exhaust, headers or manifolds?

I've got a small pile of extra SBC stuff I can raid if you need something.

    Hey, John,
Box is late '60s Mustang ;I've got to figure the exhaust out later ( I have the original ram horn cast ex. manifolds and some Mr. Gasket header flanges if I decide to do something different ( and probably very noisy).
    (maybe fender well headers ?)

Thanks, I appreciate the offer and will keep it in mind.

Bitchin' 40 Ford dash I got from the HAMB classifieds a few years ago. It needs to be sliced and diced to fit, but it's getting used! I've got some nice gauges to put in after the re-model.

    Hey Mike,

I was looking at the "Got Creeper? thread a few minutes ago and it got me to thinking - why do you call your coupe build "The Creeper"? I may have missed it but I didn't see an explanation anywhere in this thread. I am just curious.

Oh man now you're going to have to find some finned Buick drums for the front to match those swanky aluminium rear drums.
