I managed to run it approximatly 25 miles today with no breakdowns or fuel blockages due to rust!!!!

Luckily the old merc flathead is smoking a lot less so maybe it will ungum itself.... if not a rebuild is in my near future....as well as a lot more body and interior work to make it nice.

In case you are using the stock A tank? They make a very great sock filter that presses into the fuel shutoff valve, and it sticks up in the tank maybe 2".

The rust flakes just fall away from the screen. This sediment was a huge Model A problem in the past, as the valve and the line going to the sediment bowl would plug up very quickly.

$5 or so, but the valve needs to be removed to install it.

I can't believe that is the same car. You some sort of wizard or what :)

Thanks everyone!! Close up pics aren't too impressive at this point.

I am not much of a metal wizzard... just lots of butt welds with a mig that I ground down and hammered out. It will need a good bit of Bondo to be straight. right now it looks decent from 20 feet.

Funny you mention the filter in the tank. I literally just installed one of those in the shutoff valve before taking it out for a drive today.

I will try post up more pics in the daylight.

Nice save!! Wonder what frame you are using? It looks like a Deuce with an A wheelbase.

I am 6 foot 7 inches tall so no chop on this one. Our 7 year old daughter has been helping me build this one and it will be her car when old enough to drive. So a lot of kids should be seeing it on the road.

Great job saving that body. I like that you left the roof high.
