I thought I'd add this old photo to this very cool thread. This is my family, heading out in my grandpa's brand new '50 98. My older cousins - who had driver's licenses but probably shouldn't have - took this sedan out on Fort Irwin Road north of town, and proved that you could easily bury the speedometer. I really don't know how fast that thing could go, but well north of 110! heading out in grandpa\'s new Olds.jpg

Here's another shot of my 88 at a local car meet last summer. I'll never grow tired of looking at it...

That has to be a very rare woodie, Please get after it, that is no way to treat it. It would be a shame to lose it to the termites!
Best Regards and good luck with all your endeavors, KB.

I bought this '47 after I tore my '48 Olds Woodie apart. If I had it to do over I wouldn't have bought them. I'm not a wood craftsman

    Hello,

This thread is very cool. It brings back the time that my brother bought a 51 olds sedan and put some mods on it for his daily driver. He tried racing it, but did not do so well. It was a cool looking cruiser. I was in charge of putting on his screw in Moon Discs before and after the drags. One time, he gave me the keys to his Olds and said to take the car out for a spin in the neighborhood. So, being 14 and rambunctious, out for a spin I went. It was very nice to be able to drive around. I was so happy, but little did anyone know that this was not the first time around the block. His car was fast for what mods he did, but I am pretty sure he was looking for something faster…

He sold it to a friend and bought a stock 58 348/280 Impala. Now that was fast for a stock car during these early times.

    Thanks,
    Jnaki

57 super 88. I was on a great kick to get a lot done then took a "promotion" that meant more time at work for the same money. I hope to be less burnt out in 2017 and get back to the olds uploadfromtaptalk1482730193609.jpg

Growing up Dad had a 57 Super 88 4 door all white hardtop with the tri colored interior. That is where my affection for Oldsmobile started. Still have three Olds in the garage now. OT for this message board. Joe

Bought this almost 2 years ago. I was told the engine turns. Come to find out the fan turns and the belt slips on the crank pulley. It's only missing an air cleaner and the wheel covers, all of the other little pieces are there. So out comes the engine. Cyl 6 was stuck from the intake valve sitting open allowing moisture in. Just got the engine back from the machine shop the other day. Chomping at the bit to get back to working on it. WP_20160613_004.jpg WP_20170114_001.jpg

This '64 Jetstar 88 is my newest addition. Gonna pull the tint off the rear glass and drop it a few more inches. Paint will come later too. For now im just going through it to keep it running and enjoying the crap out of it.

Love seeing the Oldsy's. Mine aint HAMB friendly but one of the reasons I like it so much is that isn't a Chevy for a change.

The other day I asked an O'Reily's counter guy (millennial) for a floor mounted dimmer switch for the 34 I'm building. He said he didn't know that there ever was a dimmer switch on the floor. I said I had one in my Oldsmobile outside if he wanted to see it. He said "what's an Oldsmobile?" o_O
