Rolls Royce Meteor engine (tank version of the Merlin aero engine) in the UK back in the 70's, John Dodd's legendary 'The Beast' which Rolls got the right hump over him putting a RR grille etc on it.

This was after it was re-bodied.

This was it in it's first incarnation IIRC.

  2. Yes it is, "Big Al" this is an early pic. Here is a later pic, I think it was a flopper by the time this pic was taken.

Well not actually a flopper the bod lifted

Its not really a sedan it is a long roof coupe.

O think the same guy stuffed an Allison on a Dodge wagon too.

You can't see it in this pic but I have been told that this old speedster had

One of these in it. Super charged Graham.

Thought that was Jim Lytle's car, if I'm not mistaken he also built a street version of "Big Al"...

That Miller is incredible! An absolute work of art!! Looking at that engine, and comparing it to most of what was common in that era, is like night and day.

The Miller cars in general are works of art, this was at the Miller meet @ Wisconsin State Fair Park. Same 2 cars as above.

While the Hemi isn't an odd ball I was surprised to see one stuffed in a Curtis.

  14. A pair of Crosley motors mounted end to end. Or go wild and do a side by side.

Horizontally opposed 8 cylinder Crosley, built from two blocks, mated at the crankshaft/block centerline. I did not build this, but saw it in person, running, as pictured.

  23. Just the other day, I stumbled on a couple of things - both old publications dealing with the Curtiss OX5 aircraft engine.

One, was an ad by the gubmint offer a couple thousand surplus engines (remeber, the more you buy, the less you pay!).

The other was an article how to build a "sporty automobile" using the OX-5.

I'd post the pages - but not sure if its HAMB permitted.

If this isn't 'Hamb-Friendly' I have NO Finng idea what would be: It's "cool old motors", about putting same into "cool old cars", & done before WWII, so what could be 'wrong' about it???
