Love it. I think the only changes I would make is a Deuce shell and '48 Chevy tail lights. (Which is what is going on mine.)

There are few things I may change at some point. I can handle something like taillights on a weekend, if the mood strikes me. I was thinking maybe 1950 Ford. Don't see them that often.

I think one of the reasons I could never have someone else build a car for me is I want everything just so. I tend to obsess over every detail and a builder would hate working with me. They would want to kill me by the end of the project. (I usually want to kill me by the end of a project.) I am not sure I could do what you have done and just say "build me a car". But I love watching these build threads and Tardel is one of the best.

I always thought I could build my own car. Anything I've done so far has not been up to my own standards. I have gained enough experience to recognize the amount of skill and know how it takes to pull off a nice hot rod. There comes a time when you may have to accept that it's time to hire it done.

Keith Tardel's dad literally wrote the book on how to build a traditional hot rod. I'm sure Keith cut his teeth on Model A Fords. Ryan has been on top of the traditional movement for years. I can't think of any other team I would trust like this. I'm going to drive the Hell out whatever they deliver.

  9. this is where good communication comes in. i deal with this when i build/restore a car for a client. i take lots of photos, discuss the plan and rehash as problems arise. some things do come down to cost and there is almost always concessions made.
that said i used to have a hard time having other people do projects for me [house related] ........now i just make sure i get my monies worth and do the things i am picky about myself.

Ryan, This is one of the things that drives me nuts, here on the HAMB: You showed us a problem with a oil leak, then say you have driven the car, and all is well. How about telling us what was the cause of the leak, and the cure that was needed?

Actually no... It's not fixed. The car would only spill oil once it warms up... So, we've been able to move the car here and there.... The motor still has to come out. :(

Would have been a problem with a flathead either. They are supposed to leak oil.

Yeah, that's about all we can do for a while. They gotta pull the engine and fix some bad stuff. Interior work yet to do, exhaust, etc. Other projects are in the works, timing. I've learned patience is the only way to go. Tardel's skills are in demand. I think it really will be worth the wait.

We aren't sure as we haven't torn it down. I think it's a bad oil pump. Motor sounds great, but it has low oil pressure at idle... Even scarier, the oil pressure drops when you rev it.

There's metal in the oil too, so something got torn up.

Yeah, it's a bummer, but gotta just roll with it. The delay is the hardest part. It's prime rodding weather.
