Well after a few minutes of watching I was disappointed.
Thought for sure we would get Billys recipe for salsa.

Typical L A guys. It`s all about the ego. Have met shine and granted, he is very talented but his arrogance comes on strong

An inside source told me it's getting a vinyl wrap instead of paint complete with custom pinstripe stickers courtesy of the chain parts store around the corner. Apparently there was no time for the paint to dry in the 30 minute deadline they had for the car.

    He builds award winning cars.

    He builds award winning cars.

The shopping carts are holding the entire project up.

So let understand the El Ca... $2000+ for a car that probably has a salvage title and looks wrecked with body parts missing. Build it in 3 weeks, do no work on the chassis and engine. Do no smog check and drive to BH..... Something I could not get away with Ca.

  8. It was a little dissapointing. I was hoping for actual hot rods. That 32 sedan was killer and only 2 min of coverage on that. I like elcaminos even the 80s ones and that one was cool minus the shopping cart cake decorating. The show was made for people that dont know about hot rods. More everyday people know about and what an elcamino is that a Duece sedan and they were trying to get viewers interested in the show by having something they know and have seen before. I'll give it another shot and hope that they don't have to build a checker cab into a beach buggy in six hours with a hang gliding platform on top.

ok,OK- I admit the anticipation was so much greater than the the "reality". The trailer for show was better than the show, much like big time movies. they certainly did not need to go all the way out to the Desert to find a crappy El Co. then to keep secret the name/location of car place that seemed to have a good stock pile of rides with true potential. to make the highlight of the build how to chop, chrome & install shopping carts was just too much. then to skip over what it took to do the paint job. as jimmy six mentioned about no sign of drive line work or Calif smog check.

    Jimmy Shine is the coolest-
the yellow '40 with the 8 track was over the top..
and when they pissed in the punch and what's her name said she had that taste in her mouth before...

oh wait... different show wasn't it..

  13. That show didn't shine, it gave me the zz's. At my age, I needed the nap though.

  14. I was hoping they wouldn't follow the "recipe" to make a show about cars. Gotta admit though, if it weren't for deadlines nothing would get done.

Come on guys and gals NSRA is 30 and older, GOODGUYS has the All American events. You have to stay up with the latest trends. Of course I am stuck in the sixties so I do not have too. I wish they would not push these late models on us. I do not care an 1984 is 30 years old. Tell them to hire Ryan for TV scripts.

  21. Seems to me to be a "Counting Cars" look alike. Beats watching other stuff, but not a "car guy's" show. However, we should have known that as it is on discovery, and not velocity.
I guess what all of you are looking for is a hot rod ford version of 'Graveyard Carz'? I would be in for that as well, but I don't see it coming.

  24. come on guys, these shows are not for us. they are meant for the people that never turn a wrench, and had a datsun B210 back in the day. all the people i know that like these shows are not real car people. that is fine, i don't have a problem with it, i just don't watch the crap.

  25. 80's El Camino what a boring car. Chip Foose new it was ugly and grafted a camaro front clip on to kinda make it cool. Should of went with a Gremlin with a chevy 350:p:D
