No, it is not flipped but something is going on back there because the rear window is stock height

    That's a great looking car!
That's what I thought it looked like, but I couldn't quite be sure. I thought maybe the trailing edge of the roof was reshaped to allow for the full height window? Do you have a straight on side view of the car?

The Alexander brothers really did a lot of pretty tasteful work back in the day. They had an excellent eye for how a car should flow when many others back then struggled with that concept! Nice Score!

That car sat on the show room floor of Baron Chevrolet in Weirton , WV. in the 70's. I looked it over a few times. I was fascinated by the chrome inner fenders. It seems to me that there were stripes on the hood that connected to the interior stripes and continued on to the trunk lid. There was a placard beside the car that stated that this car was in the movie Follow That Dream starring Elvis Presly. Bill

  13. Gonna' have to build a basement display area now. I can't imagine the garage shuffle will yield to another parking spot. Of course, .... your squint eyed parallel parking skills are undoubtedly much better then mine.

one of my "little books" has a how to chop article, and this was the car in the pics.
I will have to try and find it.

I bet you could could fall in a cesspool and come out driving something cool. Congrats. Not many customized 55's can pull it off, and you have two. I know you just don't luck on to this stuff. Congratulations on a really neat car. And 61 Chevy steering wheels are underrated. The antenna in the sweet-heart dip is very effective. Again, killer find.

Does anyone have any idea what these headlite bezels may be from? They are missing and I want to ditch the '80's smoked covers. Already tried 59 Chev and the are too big.

  24. I still can't believe Rod sold the car but I'm glad it is in good hands. I'll have to pay him a visit and get the heads he was doing up for me,

ok: I guess it wasn't a "little book", its a big one.
it is custom craft ,November 1963 issue # 26
the cover is yellow, and has a red 57 olds on it. I will try to scan it in later.

also the car is in color on the back cover of the consumer reports magazine "grease machines" (from the mid 70's I think) but nowhere in the issue.

  30. Fantastic Mark! I am super happy for you. The car could not have gone to a better caretaker...demonstrated by your work already to fine tune the details. Stoked to see you say it will be in Indy next year, I look forward to drooling all over it...I promise to bring a soft towel to clean up after myself. :)
