I got a call from my pal Chuck Miller a few weeks back that the Astorian was for sale. Originally customized in 1964. The front end and top chop done by the A bros. and the rear and paint done by Jack Florence of Fostoria customs. (the name Astorian is a compilation of A bros and fostoria) Rodney Rice was the original owner and reluctantly needed to sell. I made the trip to Michigan and brought it home. Last restored in the early eighties she is showing a little age, but what a neat car. How lucky can one guy get??

  5. Just a hint of the coming anti-symmetry trend with the pinstriping off-center. Just noticed the interior stripes as well.

  6. Mark....very cool you got this piece of Detroit history...I forgot about that car and hadn't seen it for years. Did they show it at A bros Autorama salute? You are quickly become the Mid West Kustom collector King.... You need to find the Watson painted Ford car hauler now to take them around to shows

  11. Wow it looks good after all those years. They didn't mess it up too much in the 80's. That's always good to see.

I have pictures of the car I took at a show in South Lyon MI back in 83, I'll have to scan them.

That's gonna fit the collection quite nicely. Beautiful, and definitely in the right hands for preservation.

Awsome! I remember seeing it for the 1st time in a street rodder magazine back in the early 80's, and thought it was SOOOO cool to see a radical custom 55 chevy, as most of them then were being "resto rodded" then.

Great car, and looks like the 80's restoration was pretty true to the period and didn't pick up any "modernized" touches then, which is amazing and rare to see. I'll also mark this down as the very first tri-5 Chevy that looks good chopped.

Very cool!, whate a great addition. Where on Earth do you plan on putting it? If you need to park that Vette outside I could probably arrange some long term storage for it:)
