Hot Rods Let's have our own 84th anniversary event for the 40 ford...

  1. ....................Was it Dick Applegate who owned that Hemi-powered Willys that the Hot Rod Garage built a few years ago?

  2. That is one beautiful car and I don't think anyone will have a problem with the posting of the pictures as a tribute to Mr. Applegate.

Just a sneak peek at the frontend going together for my '40 Standard sedan...dropped '36 axle by titus, shaved F1 spindles, F1 brakes, split '36 bones with my own tapered weld in bungs, and bolt on drop steering arms...I'll be reversing the main spring leaf today and repacking it with 10 leafs and painting the spring pack black by the evening...and here's a little louvered hood action for ya as well...

There is no listing for any "brown" in 40 for either standard cars or commercial vehicles, not sure about Deluxe models.According to The V-8 Album there were special order options for paint choices.

I dug a little and came up with Tropical Sand, it's a Lincoln color from 40.

I was thinking it looked more like a '39 Buick convert than a '40 Ford!

years ago, before there was a HAMB, I knew a guy that had an immaculate black '39 Buick coupe with a cad flathead loaded with Edmunds stuff. Man what a cool car...

Do you? It had polished torq-thursts on it, and he lived in New Westminster, BC. Would have been around 1990-92? Same one? I mean, could there be two? It was a BEAUTIFUL car. He sold it, maybe it went to the east USA?

  21. ...................There must be two 'cause this one belongs to a friend of mine here in Maryland who has owned it for many years. We're talking about the '40 Ford above, George, not the Buick.:)

  22. In fact, this happened over the week-end in Ocean City, Md. If anyone out there has a spare left rear fender for a '40 Ford, please let some us Maryland HAMBers know by way of a PM (conversation). We will get the info to the owner. Thanks, Don.
