I was just going to ask the same question. I've seen them before, and I'm sure it's so they are easier to see out of, but it's odd to see both a Ford and a Chevy that look exactly the same.

Given they are competing brands, both '57, maybe it was a county/province government thing, eh?

Believe me when I say it, we have an abundance of sight challenged drivers here who need to address the blind spots, so the port hole window was installed in everything!!

I agree, and I did notice how coincidental these two were. Not sure if it's great odds, but they are from a similar part of Alberta but from different owners...

I'm pretty sure provincial....we had the port holes in Deliveries, and other provinces had the Ranchero/El Camino car conversions!

..about side holes. We had a fleet of "Stateowned TELE phone company" Volvo Duett P210 as servicecars. Most deliverys had this "hole to see better". Made out of same glass/shape as backdoors. Here's one from '66, not rustingaway anymore:

Great pics, both deliveries seem to be in great shape. Here in Michigan, we use salt in the winter, and chloride on the dirt roads in the summer. Rots the hell out of everything. If you find an unrestored 57 here, the sheet metal would start at about the bottom of them portholes. People always joked about the state being in kahoots with the big 3, wanting your car to rust out so you would have to buy another.
We also mine a lot of salt here.
Thanks to everyone for posting some cool pics.

Saw this Thames while riding on a bicycle path in North Hatley, Quebec. It's being used as a lawn ornament. Thames 1.jpg Thames 2.jpg Thames 3.jpg

I love the plastic seat covers. My Dad put them on everything that he owned. Now I see that they actually work. At least they kept the seats nice for the mice!

Between this thread, and others that I've posted on, I post pictures I have taken, as well as some that my relatives have taken as well. Some pictures were from For Sale sites, which I share with others. My own personal pictures that I take, I post them in the hopes I can share them with others, as I am an avid photo collector. I hope everyone enjoys them, and I apologize if I offend anyone by using their picture. If that happens, please let me know, but enjoy mine!

I was born in 1970, and my Dad and Grandfather both owned 'Junk Yards' full of cars. So many old cars had these covers that, until now, I thought they were installed at the factory. Most had little plastic bubbles. They really do work - forever!
