Kind of pisses me off . . . That said, the book is a stunner, one that Vern Tardel and I are very proud of. It’s large format (8.25 x 10.635 in.), 208 pages with 531 color and B&W illustrations (with the preponderance of them in color). Most important, the book is an essential step-by-step Bishop-Tardel narrative, starting with the genesis of the Ford-Mercury flathead V-8 and then guiding the reader through the full plot, from selecting a sound candidate, pulling it apart, herding it through inspection and machine operations, and then putting it all back together and ensuring its successful completion. Along the way you’ll learn how to breathe some extra life into Henry’s bent-eight with porting and relieving, plus some neat assembly tricks that the greybeards like Tardel learned decades ago. Is good. Buy. The quality of the photography is an especial standout...even the deepest recesses of the ports are clear to see. The photos of sectioned blocks showing where all the iron lives are better than anything that has made print before.
