I know, not much action lately. I've been occupied with the caddy, getting her ready for the lonestar roundup. After that , its on...

Back on the f-100, nothing exciting at all. Just some wiring and running air lines.

Fabbed up a battery mount and mounted the viair compressor. Still need to order a new tank, had one I was planning on using but was too big. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1431039001.202973.jpg

I know a couple of you guys were curious about what I was planning for gauges. This is what I came up with. I didn't want to hack up the original cluster up too much. As the og cluster has idiot lights for gen/alt and oil pressure ,that wasn't going to work, I like to know what's going on under the hood. I had some old cheapo sunpro triple gauge setup laying around ,so I dismantled the faces, needles and guts from the volt and oil pressure gauges. Popped out the idiot light lenses on the og gauge cluster and installed the sunpro's inside the panel. They are not a perfect match but will work for me. Then I added bag pressure gauges on each side.

  5. Matt,

Great work all the way around.

You might ask around for someone with a vinyl printer, draw up a matching font, have it printed and tell everyone the were an option...

Thanks! Good idea on the printing idea. I've heard the bigger ford trucks (f200-f600)came with with the full gauge setup, but they are hard to find. Some even had a factory installed tach I believe.

Got the fuel tank in and all the brake lines finally finished. Going to test them out here in the next couple of days to see how many leaks I have. Also picked up my "freebie" windshield! Many perks from working in a body shop.

Figured I'd post some oil pan clearance shots. A lot of people have trouble finding a pan that will clear the rack. I guess I got lucky with the stock 88 f150 rear sump pan. I have an inch all the way around.

Thanks! Just checked out your thread , very cool! Tailgate latches are my favorite, very cool idea. I was curious, what pump are you running for power steering? I was thinking of using the one from the donor 88 f150, not sure of the psi of it though.

Matt, any more progress on this pickup? I am following intently & interested to see where this is going! Will the engine be raised commensurate with the front raise in your frame? Is your intent to lay frame with this set up? Cheers Wayne

The engine was raised 3 inches along with the 3 inch step up in the front frame rails. Also had to raise the trans tunnel . Hood to air cleaner clearance is around 3 to 4 inches, plenty of room in these old trucks. The whole idea was to have it low as possible when aired out but not to lay the frame directly on the ground. I set the suspension up to where if in the event of a line or bag failure the truck would still roll freely and nothing dragging the ground. Have a half inch from frame to the ground when aired out.

Hopefully this weekend all the front sheet metal will be bolted on for good. Then I'll need to modify the inner fender wheel wells to accommodate the tires when lowered. Most trucks I've seen guys leave out the inner fenders but it will make a huge mess under the hood while driving in the rain.

I did the body work on the cab and primed it while back. I think I'm gonna let the rest go for now, I'm ready to drive this thing! The passenger side fender is really the only bad panel, just a few whiskey dents here and there

It's coming along good! I think it looks like shit when people don't run inner fender wells. I don't know if I saw but what tires are you using? I like whiskey.

Cutting things so other things will have more room. Yes my truck is on cinder blocks, haven't built my stands yet.

Finally got my belt routing on the 5.0 straight. Damn reverse rotation water pump/serpentine mess. The left side accessory bracket I decided to run,it's ugly but it works perfectly. It would normally hold the a/c compressor and p/s pump. Got a bypass pulley for the ac compressor location. If I decided to power the rack and pinion it will be setup already, just bolt a pump on, run some lines and get a longer belt. In the future I plan on doing a engine driven compressor to fill the tank for the airride, so the bracket will come in handy for that too.

  21. Looks really good. I've enjoyed following the build. I'm doing a 62f100 with a jag front as well.

Matt, what are the lower bags & shocks on the Jag front? Do you feel this is a better deal than shockwaves?

The bags I used are 2500lb Firestones. The shocks in the front are actually 63-64 f100 rear shocks. I also used the same shock in the rear also.i don't think it would be possible to mount a shockwave in the jag ifs without major modifications.... Though I could be wrong, just never seen it done.
