So here's the deal I'm cutting 8" out of the cowl on this heap to abbreviate the cowl the way many early lakes cars were done.but unlike most I've seen I want to retain the stock ford firewall. So here we go! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1421898913.509699.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1421898924.076658.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1421898939.702419.jpg

Man, nice job and that firewall sure is in nice shape. Did you do any prep work on it or was that the way you got it?

The firewall was the nicest panel on the whole car. I actually felt bad cutting it up.

Lookin' good, pardner- don't ever feel bad about corrective surgery; that's why they made so many of these cars!(Plenty for everyone!)And at it's age, it's ready for a facelift!

Started skinning the cowl again. Between the factory skins I have and a few patch panels I should be able to repair it. Body is now 8" shorter than stock.

I'm a short guy 5' 7" so I'm not really worried about it. If I have to I will recess between the trunk area and the tub for more room. Really want that short lakes T look at any cost , including leg room.

Lots of lakes and drag Ts (like Tony Nancy's) had a recess for a bucket seat cut back into the panel above the deck lid, looks good if it's done right, and gives some extra leg room.
    I really like your car.

I don't know why but both of the roadsters I've had were rotted on the drivers side sub frame. Weird. Anyway here's the mess.

Replace a little less than 3' of the subframe total. Now I have to rebuild the door post and rear body structure to reattach the b post.
