I'm trying to figure out the wheels and tires on the black roadster, I love the way it looks. I want to run wire wheels on my 28 roadster but 16" look to big and I have a clearance problem. Does it make sense to run original 16"wires on the back and 14 or 15 repo's on the front, or should I just run repo's all around. What do you think. Bruce
From your pics, the front tires look to big.. If they were 4.50's, 5.00's or 5.50's I think your clearance issues would be fine with 16" wheels...
Agree. Keep in mind also that the same size tire will look different on your A than it does on the Deuce you show as an example. It's a good idea to use the same make/year as an example to get a more accurate idea of what a specific tire size will look like on your car. It's my opinion that A's look better proportioned with tires a size or two smaller than Deuces because they are smaller cars.
My avatar has 16 inch wires with 7:00 on the rear and 5:50 on the front. The front tires always rubbed on the inside of the fenders at full turn. Had 4" dropped axle that was 47" wide, building another Model A with a 48" wide axle, hoping to avoid the problem.
Here's a my Avatar with 750 x 16 on 5 inch rims in the back and 600 x 16 on 4 inch rims in the front. Chassis z'ed and reverse eye spring on the back. Pretty close back there but nothing hits/rubs. Front fenders ride with the wheels--so not much help there.
