History White Firewalls lets see them!!!

I was thinking of doing mine white, too. But if everybody else is doing it I might have to change my mind.

 

What? Nobody posted the reason for white firewalls yet? It was the quick way to spot oil leaks, same deal with AAA race care drivers wearing white uniforms in the Pre WWII days, that allowed blood stains to show. Bob

I'm building a '40 ford pickup. The exterior will likely be Guards Red with Tacoma Cream wheels. I really like the idea of painting the firewall the same color of Cream. Thoughts?

Wimbledon, especially over black, is a great choice. Not too "dirty", just enough. I do notice that even when that's the choice it can be a bit bright against a really vivid color. Maybe a bit pricey, but usually not much needed, look at PPG's "Vibrance" color line. There's a color called "Vanilla Shake" and another called "Custard". The only problem is the urge to eat sweets after you've read the label and seen the color (!). I love white firewalls...

 

Chrysler Magnum station wagons have a great white that I plan to use, Mini Cooper has a white that is also nice IMO. Bob

 

I won't post a photo because it's not a firewall but I used Chrysler Magnum Vinilla as a two tone color on the '54 Ranch Wagon.

CMV would look great on a firewall and it's a little darker than the Wimbledon White. HRP
