Features Can We get a "Survivor" Thread!

My dad built this car in 1959 hope to have it on the road this summer

 

The one in my avatar was originally built in 1970/71. In 73 life got in the way so it was stuck back into a corner where it sat for 34 years. In 2007 I got a bug in my butt, dug it out and made it drivable again.

 

great coupe. thanks for the post. love seeing the early builds survive. being your father's ..... could it ever get much finer?

 

heres a pic of the 34 truck posted earlier, got it done and driving for torque fest.

Also had my 34 ford coupe "kinda" survivor at Torque fest also

 

heres a few more of my coupe, i call it a kinda survivor because i redid alot of the car, tried to retain its original look.

 

no doubt jeff, both definitely add to and belong in this thread .... very nice!
no question with the pickup .... preservation at its finest!
but really digging what you've done to the coupe .... still belongs in the fuzzy 50's - 60's albums but now with the improved proportions of a more skilled builder

My '57 Buick as found after a long slumber. I don't know much about its history other than it is a local Detroit car and had been sitting a while before being drug out of the garage. It was pinstriped by Ray "ElVago" Smith. Anyone on here have any info on her past? It has since been lowered 3", cleaned, repaired as necessary and enjoyed as intended.

 

Some very cool old rods,love seeing them,but feel real bad about the ones that need some new shiny paint an love { I totaly hate bad patina as some like to call paint that needs fixing. Nothing looks as sad to me as a cool old car still going bad from some one actuly thinking screwed up paint an or rust some how looks good to them for some twisted thinking..
I still have my own self built hotrod. I did it back in 1959 for highschool,I drove her from 1959 to 1965, then got a wife,a house and pulled my rod apart so our stantionwagon could go with it's V8. Here's my 36. Paint and interior in June of 1960 - Same owner from 1957-1999. I drive it every day.

This is the ass end of my old bobtailed "A" hotrod today ,built in 1959,front is in post #282
Steve's 1930 "A" sedan that he an I put a Ford Y-block 272 in back in 1960 was called "Scarlet Fever" ,made it all this time totally together ,tell last year,when a guy that got it,cut it up to shorten it and put it on top of a S10,junking out the Y n chascie. I did get sad over that news

 

A T coupe a buddy just picked up, its got a shortened complete 32 chassis under it, 59ab flathead, 40 trans, 40 rear with shortened torque tube and even column shift was set up on it. super neat car, interior is way neat too.

 

Saw this one in a barn in New Hampshire. The guy runs said it runs and drives perfect. paint looked orig to me, tucked up under the dash was a piece of paper that looked like a build sheet.

 

That is very very cool.

 

I can't believe that I haven't posted my '40 1/2 ton stake truck in this thread. It's definitely a survivor. My great-aunt and uncle bought it from the original owner, back in the mid 70's, and it's what I learned to drive a manual transmission in, when I was around 13-14.

Since getting the truck back on the street, in 2012, I've put over 10,000 miles on it's original driveline and flathead motor. Nearly 2000 of those have been within the last 45 days!

my 32 chevy i picked up recently

 

...not a hot rod (yet),...but a true survivor that just turned over 30,000 actual miles,...33 Hudson Essex Terraplane, orig. interior and 90% orig. paint. It's for sale.

 

Just signed on to show a before and after pic of my V8 Flathead powered '30 Model A Coupe coming out of storage after 53 years. It was put away shortly after the first pic was taken in 1962. The second pic is from last week.

 

What a catch, looking forward to your build thread!

 

My A Coupe was raced in the 50's/60's and sat inside a garage in NYC for the last 50 years untouched.

 

My friend Dan Henke's 40 Standard

Real deal built in the 1950's hot rod

324 Olds powered, was flathead powered has had a Olds since 1956

Last painted in 1959!

The car had a stock 303 was missing the speed equipment when Dan got it.

Dan built the engine in the photos first photos

He has since built a much stronger 324 with the following-

3x2 Edelbrock intake

N.O.S. 97's

N.O.S. Harmon & Collins roller cam

He also replaced the 40 transmission with a Cad/LaSalle adapted to the torque tube.

The car now ride on 15" Merc wheels

I haven't seen Freds yet but one of my favorites. And the deluxe speed shops. And last mine

I think two taillights became the industry standard on cars after the war.

I don't when two taillights became required.

Dan's car is a 40 Ford Standard which only came with one taillight.

The 40 Ford Deluxe came with two taillights
