    You joke, but there were some old English cars (30's/40's) that had the pedals in different order. I remember my Dad telling me it was a bugger working at the garage when one would come in to be worked on cos the gas was on the left...

  4. A cavatation plate is mounted on the rear of a boat. The left pedal pushes the plate down to keep the bow in the water for more controll. Let off on the plate to get the bow up for speed.

  10. Fwiw, there was a left side gas pedal available as an accessory back in the day.

    Idea was to rest your right foot on long trips.

    Used on auto trans cars only.

    Got confusing when someone unfamiliar to the car tried to move it.

    It had a cross-bar that went along the top of the toe-board and controlled the factory gas pedal from there.

    For a while there, when I got my new at the time 88 Mustang GT w/5 liter I thought I had a 4 pedal....

    sorry the dog jumped onto my lap , adjustable cavitation plates are on the back of old flat bottom boats to adjust the pitch on the boat when you stand on the gas keeping the nose from comming up so high.

    Let me get my hands on a left and right and I'll show you where they need to be used... Might need to post it over on the Jockey Journal though.

  17. I think they use a cavitation plate on a drag boat, but I didn't know that they used a foot pedal to adjust the setting.

  18. This thread reminds me of the riddle;

    Why did the Siamese twins go on vacation in England?

    So the other one could drive.

  19. don't think too hard you might hurt yourself mate :D - the pedals in right hand drive cars go the same as left hand drive cars- clutch (if you have one) Brake, gas, the only thing I know of that are diffrent are an old tractor- comepletly (L-R L brake gas clutch R bake) and dads model t fords- absolute barstards to drive

  21. My '75 Holden has a Dimmer switch on the floor. I have a footprint pedal that sits ontop of the switch.. held on by a small grub screw.

    My '42 Chev Truck will possibly be the same.
