    Canton Ill. Class of 1981. I drove a 55 Chevy 210, with a bored 283 and a 4 speed. I still own my 55. The last week of H.S. I bought a 57 BelAir 4 door with a Power Pack 283 and a 3 speed. Sold the 57 in 1984.

  3. My first car in 1958, was a '39 Ford Coupe ( Std ). The Canadian serial number was 007, but that was before Bond. It was bone stock, but I sure wish I still had it.
A year later, I bought a stock 34 Ford 1/2 ton and made my first rod. I chopped, channeled, shortened the box, and swapped in a 53 Olds, Hydramatic, and rear end by mounting the transverse spring on the Olds rear end. This one was stripped one night by some midnight auto werckers. Sniff.

My 1969 Chevelle, when I was a senior in 1984. Yup thats my son (I was an early starter). I paid 500 bucks for it, and my dad and I stripped it down to metal and my dad painted it as my grad gift. Drove it like this for about 6 months then went into the Air Force and sold it.....STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!!

    I drove a 68 camaro RS/SS with 60,000 original miles-in 1993. Wish I kept it.

  9. My size 9 sneakers untill that day J.F.K.was shot.
That very afternoon after high school let out my mom drove me over to my dad's used car lot in Waltham.
He set me up with a light rose colored '57 Bel Air convertible.
    SWEET!
    It get's better.
The Chevy had a 3 month old 365 hores 327" crate motor, a Hurst- 3 speed, duals with quiet truck mufflers, a nice big black face Stuart Warner tach on the top of the dash and a new white convertible top with a silver and white vinyl interior.
It was a seventeen year old's dream come true!
Over that weekend I rose to B.M.O.C. status.
3 months later my grades took a dive and dad relived me of my Chevy.
I was back to sneakers and hitching rides from anyone that took pity on me.
Lesson learned...........STUDY TO YOUR MAX IN YOUR SENIOR YEAR.
That last year in high school is sooooo important.
    ;)

1961-63 in Nebraska.................drove it thru the snow all winter. It had a modified 4 banger and metalflake blue paint, then painted it candy raspberry, swapped in a 260 Ford in late 64, still running that today.

HA! dead milkmen quote :) i had my 53, but no licence till after highschool. got caught driving when i was 14 and they wouldnt let me have it till i was 18... what kind of logic is that? isn't it obvious at that point that i didn't give a shit about a stupid licence?

  23. graduated in '67 driving a 57 Plymouth 4 door we bought from a Chevy dealer friend of the family. the owner couldn't afford to pay for repairs so it sat in a field of horses til we bought it for $15 and drove it home. once the horse "do do" was washed off, it wasn't bad, pretty straight, but engine smoked bad. a set of rings and bearings from JC Whitney and the L head 6 was solid. the 3 on the tree shifted itself from 2nd to 3rd because of the weight of the pool ball, just had to push in the clutch. I taped the verticle bars of the grill to make it look like a bar grill and added head rests, you know, the round white ones that bolt to the back of the seat?

1959 Chevy Apache, 13 different colors, a '63 box, chrome reverses on the front with Goodyear Polyglas Gt's, and some hurkin' big 31" radials on the back. I always wondered why that thing drove so weird... anyways, my wifes uncle bought it from me after high school and still has it in his gravel pit. The bum won't sell it back to me. Oh well.

  27. Class of '95, mine was a '63 Olds with the 330hp 394 c.i. V8...One step down from the Starfire engine...my dad bought it when I was 13 for my older sister, but she wouldn't drive it because it didn't have seatbelts. Pissed him off, so she got a late 70's delta 88 from my great uncle. I put seatbelts in it (at the demand of my wise mother) and drove the wheels off of it until a lowrider S-10 turned left in front of me and I totalled it (I was going pretty good:eek:)

It was a pretty nice car. 89k original miles, original paint/interior...lots of good memories

Graduated in 1974 and had a 1968 Chevy Chevelle with a small block 302, Muncie 4 speed, 12 bolt with 5:13 gears. I thought it was Bad, but alas I was wrong. Ran like 13.0's in the 1/4 . My first car was a 1960 Rambler Wagon we used to haul our Karts around with. Then I got a 1964 MG that I proceded to tear the clutch out of. I traded that for a 1948 Ford F 150 with a 322 Buick Nailhead in it, wrecked it and then got the Chevelle.
