Usually would melt right away except when there was a cold spell.

I experienced one of those cold spells in So Cal where there were snow flurries in Malibu Dec 30, 1987 and watched a very cold Rose Bowl game!

I find it wonderful to see all these pictures of American families which are standing proudly next to their cars for a photo. Now it hardly happens. In the country where I live, the Netherlands, this happened barely/never.

I have a picture of my grandfather beside his car in the early 1950s. Probably he was proud of it because it was such a beautiful American car (which was pretty rare to own one at that time in the Netherlands)
