    Great article.

BTW, Eagle Field Drags in Oct '20 had timing equipment and lights for the first time, after the passing of their flag starter.

First year Boomer here. This point'll be so wonderfully politically incorrect today, but I'd love to've been old enough to participate in exactly this period of drags.

The entire concept of "daring the devil", as it were, is one of the aspects of attraction of it all. There's an honest observation in Hemingway's definition of sport vs game that so many of today's populace seem desperately afraid of. And the fact that they find the need to validate that fear by denying others the option is a sad statement on their concept of freedom.

Great article, had two pics I didn't have in my own collection. Snagged'em. :)
