Customs The Mother of all Headlight Threads

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by El Hueso, Mar 5, 2012.

  1. After doing a search for a thread dedicated to headlights and coming up with no results I thought I would start one up.

Now I am sure I am not the only one that does this but I am always planning at least my next five builds in my head (three of which I don't even posses yet). And lately I have been thinking of nothing but customs and specifically headlights. So lets what you guys have done and pictures of cars that you have liked. I am talking about bezels, rings, frenched, canted, quad, Econoline bezels, 53/54 Buick rings, etc.

I will start it off with a pair of Econoline bezels on Jeems old Ford SW

Why so few posts, and why the low rating? I'd like to see dozens, even hundreds of kustoms' headlight treatments. Here is mine: '53 Chevy with repro '52 Merc headlight rings and bezels. I have real ones to use for my '51 Chevy (the stainless rings are different than the repros, with a nice rounded curve to them.)
I have replaced the blingy clear halogens with some regular headlight bulbs since this photo was taken.

And here is my #1 favorite Chevy kustom of all time, the Barris-built Ernst (Earnst?) Chevy. I believe these are the stock bezels frenched.

Finally, favorite Chevy* kustom #3 (yes, I know it's an Olds but it's the same basic body), the "Polynesian."

This is the front of my van. Sunk the bezels in and the light. Going to weld it so its one piece and fill the mounting holes before I send them out to the plater. [IMG]

    Love it!
One thing that surprised me is that they did NOT extend the front fenders at all. Just the opposite: they made the opening out of round rod at the point where the original bezels began and sunk their trim rings into the fenders. I wish I could see the car in person so I could really look closely at that.
