  4. I’m not sure how far you want to stretch this art idea. This is a part of a series that the Canadian petroleum company Supertest gave out to encourage you to buy their gas. Ithink there were 6 line drawings in the series, delete as necessary. E936315A-B734-4A59-91C5-C67A70F0F721.jpeg

“0 to 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) in 21 seconds 85 hp. built-in jacking system. With 85bhp on tap at 3,800rpm, the V8's famous flexibility more than compensated for a three-speed gearbox with synchromesh on the upper two ratios"

"Indeed it was marketed as... a truly top-gear car...un-baffled by the steepest hills, unruffled by slow traffic speeds". What?

108 wheel base vs 1940 sedan delivery at 112 inches

    Hello,

I was reading an article on this unusual woody station wagon. The facts presented were the above information. In comparison, my old Flathead powered 40 Ford Sedan Delivery WAS "baffled by the steepest hills AND ruffled by slow traffic speeds... that was for sure!

108 wheel base vs 40 sedan delivery at 112 inches equates to some roving facts for comparison. At the time of the article, I was amazed at the statement: “un-baffled by the steepest hills, unruffled by slow traffic speeds…” I question this part due to the fact that I owned a Flathead powered 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery as a teenage adventure explorer. It took us all over So Cal coastline and into Baja, Mexico numerous times.

At slow traffic speeds, I agree it was a fun experience only having 80 hp. Good acceleration from the stop light, smooth transition through the 3 speed LaSalle transmission and a nice place to be when a “cave” environment was necessary. Instant shade and a place to stretch out for a nice nap.
upload_2024-3-29_5-38-54.png This location on Camp Pendleton was a good resting place. Nice waves and a wide beach to relax and unwind. For the 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery (arrow) it was also a place to rest in preparation for the long 50 miles drive home with three steep hills to conquer to the top, to finally get back home...

But, unbaffled by the steepest of hills is/was another story. The many times a steep coastal highway presented itself, plenty of planning on action was necessary. The 80 hp just did not have what it takes to go up a steep incline in cruising speed. Much finagling with downshifts and some even down to first gear was the mode of movement.

If that was the case, here are other options for a nice custom station wagon for our purposes.

A parts delivery mode for the hot rod with a more powerful SBC motor (+ the addition of a Paxton style supercharger for “more power…”) and upgraded suspension for a smooth transition from sea level to some altitude with authority…
    upload_2024-3-29_5-44-47.png
Or, joining the “Van Life” folks stopped at the available spaces along the waterfront locations enjoying a nice afternoon watching the Blue ocean do its thing and have a nice shelter as part of the whole “retirement” package… YRMV
upload_2024-3-29_5-48-41.png and/or, be out in the water for some wave action… “two brothers in motion…”

    I guess I'm back...;)
I haven't been posting on the HAMB (or the F.A.S.) for the past couple of months due to some medical issues.
It just sucks when you leave the hospital in WORSE health than when you went in.:mad::mad::mad::mad:.

Thanks Ron, that means a lot to me. It may take a while, but I plan on a full recovery:).

A while back, I posted this in another thread, but always kinda considered it 3D art of sorts;)

This was my one (and only) attempt at building a radio controlled car. Built entirely from scratch. It ended up being much slower than I planned...which was OK, because I really sucked at driving a RC car.

Here's what I initially cut up to make the body

Happy Good Friday (FAS) to all of you, and a special thanks to all of those, that left kind words on my 71st Birthday thread yesterday!
So seeing how I am an ARIES, I figured I would post this very cool, older "MOPAR" leaping RAM, that I photographed years ago!
    Thank's from Dennis.

    Hey Dan, @Sharpone
I was never one to collect the Hot Wheels series, but years ago at the Portland swap-meet, on a dollar table, I spotted this very cool Hot Wheels custom rig that really caught my eye.
I am sure it was in some kids pocket daily, as on one side the decals are worn off.
I was even surprised to see that the lights lit up, I had no idea that it had batteries inside of it!
Pardon the poor photography, it was with my cell phone.
    Thanks from Dennis.
