filled dash will get '38 Chevy truck gauges, gas pedal and under dash E brake mocked for fit, stock seat riser out, new tube steel seat riser in to tie the reenforced sides together and carry the school bus seat

gauges broke my budget a bit
but they were a lot less than the mid '30s Buick, Auburn, REO, Packard and other really cool gauges I'd been lusting after.

    Paul,

I love this thread! It makes me want to build the 27 roadster that my dad had back in the day. However, I have to get my AV8 30 Coupe done first!

Great work - keep the updates coming!!!

  14. Looks great. I have a chunk of the dash bump out the gauges mount to. You can have it for the ride if you like.

gauges came Monday, panel came today- thanks T Hudson!

this is what they look like together
and the shot of the dash is close to how they will be layed out
using scanned images of the gauges taped to the uncut dash

yesterday I welded the section of Chevy dash in the stock T dash,

I also modified the bottom of the dash to have an upward curve thinking it might add something to the overall look

as soon as I bolted it back in the car I could see it would never do

so I welded the removed section back in,
returning the line of the bottom of the dash to it's stock configuration

I dig this one. Does the bus seat lower the seating height any? I'm collecting pieces for my 26/27 and have been thinking about seat position. Most of these I see look like guys are sitting *on* them, not in.

I rember when mine was in that mock up stage 25 years ago. They are fun to build and even more fun to drive.

it's not so much what you use but how you use it.

The dash looks great – putting that piece back in was a good call.

  26. Man what a sanitary little hot rod. Love it, especially the mill. A neat simple little roadster, i really need to get back on my 27 project, it was damn near about the same lines as yours. Killer...Glad its back on top..

    Hey Paul...
your builds are a true inspiration to me. what size tubing /square stock did you use in the trunk floor / passenger floor area? I assume you use 20ga for the sheeting of both.
    thanks

    thanks man,
1/2" in the passenger area and perimeter of trunk, to get the sheet to flush with the subrails, 3/4" for the rest of the trunk floor,
and yes 20 gauge sheet throughout
