    Well I haven't been on due to lost of work and kids ball games and what not but the time has come track is open and we are ready put cars in trailer and after work tomorrow we will be off to wild horse pass raceway "aka" firebird raceway we going to test and tune Friday night then if all goes good we going to play with some bracket racing sat am ... Will update soon with new times and pics

    Speedworld is done ... Took a drive around thanksgiving and they took almost everything down so sad ....

    Well took cars out Friday night 442 cars showed up to race 1160 spectators ... It was a mad house we made two passes weather was around 60-65 ... Bad bog on the line and the 2500 stall converter that I picked up will only stall to 1200 so we have some work to do there ... Sat am showed up at track early found the pits once again full with around 225 cars .we check the valves and played with the carbs a little they opened a test and tune lane so we two passes and ended the week end with a best of 13.60 at 96 mph and a 60 foot time of around 2.28 ... We ran the last pass and shut them down at the timing lights had the boys pull us to pits pulled the plugs and was way lean ....

    Next time we will be taking them out we will fatten them up a little fined a real stall converter .and try again the motor pulls real hard once we get it off the line so I think we are on the right path ....     Also just so you know marks car the yellow one we put together runs and has bog the same as mine with time slips the same ... Converter and more carb work and I think we will be in the 12s

    Well, that was a successful outing. You learned a lot and have a plan for better performance.

    Well guys, I would call that a great T&T session. With the turnout of cars and spectators I would say the AZ is happy to have a drag strip back in the Phoenix area.

    13.60's for this year opening test session is a great number, you should be real happy. PM me if you want to talk converters, I went around and around on them for a while.

    I would be thrilled to run 12.90's by the end of this year, good luck.
     
  12. Mike, sorry didn't get a chance to stop by your pits, they kept us pretty busy,Yesterday had to be pretty close to Friday nights turn out.Took me almost 45 minutes yesterday to go half way from the Chevron on the corner, thru the gate just to get up to the tech area.

    Well in the last few weeks we talked to a lot of people about converters .. Finally we ordered new ones from Hughes racing converters ....put them in and back to race track we go ... Wow what a big improvement now best 60 foot times are 182 and mph is 98 and Et is now 13.56 .... We are now having a slow 1-2 2-3 shift on the 904 trans

    The fun part of the week end came when rich set us up a little fun race with only 6 banger cars mark lost 1st round on a 13.80 dial and ran a 13.80 what a race .. then i ran a 14.11 on a 13.80 dial i past the guy half track and put a wheel on him my light was a killer .044 .final round was set i dialed a 13.80 the other car dialed a 15.05 there was a mix up in the tower on the dial in after the pass we shook hands and called the other guy the winner i was so happy to just run a 13.56 i didnt care who won the race ... In the next few weeks we will be looking into a better shift kit ... And little odds and ends to tune before the southwest nostalgia drags back at wild horse pass .... Looking for a 12.99 next

  19. Had a blast this weekend, and them darn Chrysler guys LOL We ended up only having 4 run the bracket on Saturday night but it was some close racing. Mike and Mark with the slantsix cars made it to the final. Mark won running a 14.12 on a 14.10 dial to Mikes 14.17 on a 14.05 dial. Mike had a squeeker first round over Kelly McClearran and her turbo charged 250" Falcon as his margin of victory was .008! Mark ran against Wayne Ludington in his dragmaster chassied injected flathead.Wayne got out of shape right off the line but was closing fast on Mark at the stripe.Want to also thank fellow H.A.M.B.er Nick Florez for comin down with the Blakes and their cars and everyone else who came down to hang out with us.I'll post a few pics and some vids later this week.

    Congradulations Mark & Mike on a great weekend. Two SDRA cars in the final & a nice win Mark.
    You guys have those slant motors dialed in. It sounds like those converters are working out real fine.
    Looking forward to some pictures & video. What was the Temp at the race?
     
  22. Tom, I think the temp was right around 99-101,We had a breeze off and on all day and it got nice after the sun went down.

    14.02 & 14.12 in 100+ weather is nice numbers for those two (very mild) slant 6's, nice job guys. Are those two young pit crew guys ready to make some passes?:)

    Hit the wrong button on the last post but anyway thanks to 300racer "aka" rich for once again working his but off to get mark and Wayne there rerun race and For setting up a purse for us to race for .. The place was packed full of cars made 7 total passes had lots of fun it was little on the warm side but lots of water and some good shade we had ... Lots of people came in after sun was down ...

    I would also like to add a update about the rumor on the new sdra car being built in az ... Word is front axle hubs and radius rods along with steering box was found for the build .... Will update everyone more when we get more info .... Hoping there will be a build thread

    Little info on week ends best numbers 14.06 best Et of week end in the heat of the day best 60 foot time 1.88 ... Lots of tire spin dropped air pressure from 12 down to 10 spun tire on the wheel so we had to go back to 12 psi ...97 mph was best ..... Temp was 101 when this pass was made .... Have to work on the tire spin .... Coming off the line at around 3000 rpm tried to launch at 2600 but car still spun tires ..... Track was good but track temp was 144 or higher

    I don't know were to start. The two Reunion pictures with the cars at the start & finish are great. You guys are bracket racing the heck out of the two rides. I am surprised that you can run those tires at 12# without any problems, I thought 15-16# was as low as they should be run even with 1400-1500# rail.

    I would say that those 6 cylinder converters are working just fine. You may have to tune the dragsters for a 2200-2300 rpm leave. A 2600-3000 leave may be real hard with these tires and the weight of both cars. I am sure 100+ temp and 144+ track temp is not ideal conditions for a "no spin pass".

    Glad you had a great time, but taking back your own hardware :cool: You guys are showing that these SDRA dragsters can be a great low dollar bracket car that can go rounds, well done.:D
