It’s not what you think, it’s not the US, it’s actually the USSR in the early part of WW2. The trucks in question are not Model A Fords, but Soviet GAZ AAs. Look closely and you will notice, it’s not rust but fire damage. It looks like a Red Army supply column has been attacked either by German armour or artillery or from the Luftwaffa from the air.

@moparboy440 What is/was this one? A "unique" sealed beam conversion, to be sure.

    It's not a Matford! It's a 1947 Ford S.A.F (Société Anonyme Française) F-472 A. One year only.
    The headlights are not stock.

I was gonna say that, that's a rare bird. Matford disapeared with the war. To restart production Ford after the war modified the pre war matford. The dead give away is the split windshield : one year only.
People were still calling them Matford and are still calling them Matford.
I know one in very good condition in a barn, complete but partially torn down : a restoration project that's been draging for about 15 years. The guy work on it from time to time.
Once I found behind a warehouse a 1954 Ford Versailles, it was a barely 6 month production car only 2100 made before it becomes Simca.

  20. My first "Matford" was about 30 years ago and it had the split windscreen. Condition was not that great. It came from Poland and probably ended up there from France during the war. In Poland it was obviously hacked around a bit and maybe even given a " new ID " as the 1970s import paperwork did say Matford.
As Sergeant Schultz would say " Verrrry Interesting "

I was wrong I just looked up Matfords, from '38 they do have the split windshield, I blame the guy with the '47 he his the one who told me it was a '47 thing only. Never trust a restorer who knows everything...
