Rare Photos-A Day at the Beach....1955

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by jalopy junkie, May 3, 2009.

  1. Dude, your kidding right.:)

  2. It' amazing how a photograph can capture a segment in time, and time is the most precious part of life. It's too bad our society has to work 2 jobs, overtime, wives working, no time to enjoy life as it should be as in the pictures posted. We live in an angry society speeded up with too many pressures. We need a 4 day workweek, same pay, more time to hot rod and build memories. These pictures are very inspirational, it is great that people are still around that lived in those simpler times. One day they will be gone, so find an old timer and talk to them about those times while you still can. My grandparents were born in the late 1800's, I often think what they had experienced as a generation. I just purchased an original 40 Ford and I'm going to load up the family, pack a picnic lunch, and build some memories! Thanks for sharing those pictures, I'm sure they will inspire Hambsters to Reminisce. Oh, check out the Reminisce Magazine, it will take you back with a ton of nostalgia. You will be impressed. :)

That shot was taken at Cape Lookout NC, in 1974. The story I heard was the property owner had put all those old cars there to stop beach erosion and because of some previous problems, to piss off everyone in town.

Ahhh, It's gotta be the Jersey Shore! How I do miss the shore:( But thanks for the pictures! Reminds me of drivin' my dad's Lincoln Mercury Town and Country on the boardwalk in Seaside to paint murals. We used to cruise out to beach and have parties there.:D

  18. Great thread, Jalopie Junkie ... I've really enjoyed this one ....

I'm gettin' to the end of what I have to offer this thread.

I've been lookin' deep into my hard drive for this photo ... I knew I had it somewhere. This is another one from Daytona, circa 1957 ... one of my favorites ....
