  1. Certainly not my top pick, but the lighting is unreal...

I can't wait 'til I can spare a couple of hours and start archiving this stuff. Does anyone reprint any of these?

    Thanks for sharing your pics

The person who originally posted this pic said he didn't know who's it was. I'm pretty sure its Jimmy Shines '34 from the Rodders Journal article. Nothing like beating the poop out of a truck you spent that many hours on. . . .

That picture was also used as the cover shot of the Petersen book "How to Build a Hot Rod", circa 1961. I bought that one new on the stands and read it to pieces; the cover is burned into my chromosones.
Recently, a copy of the book I found turned up in a library binding with no picture...I immediately bought the 1956 HRM and stuck it into the book to complete it.

There are alot of awesome shots in this thread.

This one isn't so historic but it tells a whole story with no text needed.

  15. I remember seeing that in a mag and it's a younger guy from Newbury Park.

    Thanks,

Ok Here's my contribution. The first one is my brothers car 'back in the day'. The second one is my brother and his buddy running the scales at the local track. The Glass Slipper would race there sometimes. The T was a Fuel Roadster of another friend, and the last T was My brother and his buddy's car when the newspaper did an article on them.

    Couple more of my fav's.

The Jr Fueler at Lions was run out of J&M speed center Riverside Ca, and my uncle was the tuner / crew chief. He's in the group shot in the center, with my aunt & their son. They had just won at Bakersfield (65 I think). Was a Logghe chassis. The driver and owner are also in the picture, don't know which is which.

The vintage transporters are just cool.

And Kiwi's shop is a modern classic.

hey i`m wondering if someone could help me to find out what year a guy from my home town was on the cover of hotrod, it would of been back around 54-56, his name is Irv Ross, i`m not sure what type of car he had, i was hanging out this afternoon with a friend who had helped Irv back in the day with his driveshaft angles, thanks

This is a great thread. keep the pictures coming. Someone told me once that Willie had limited use of his left hand or arm and didn't want the NHRA inspectors to notice it. That is why he would lay his hand on the body and drive one handed. He thought it was easier for NHRA to get on him about that than to maybe be disqualified from driving because of his left arm. It may have been Wally that told me this. I can't remember. Anyway here is a link to the Willie Borsch page on Wally's site.
