probably not switching them, I had to ruin the original one on the headlight switch. I pushed the button on the back of the switch and pulled the knob and shaft out. I tried like hell to get it off (I think it was a press on fit) I got it to move a little and then nothing, so I chucked it in the lathe and cut it off. also the window cranks, had to drill the rolled rivet like part off the back side so those knobs are junk. I put the red and white ones on with small shoulder bolts....

Yeh I forgot about the rivets, oh well I guess you’ll have to live with the cool knobs, life is hard that way sometimes. Thanks for the thread I enjoyed.

  14. Diggin the new knobs, all the red and white has you doing the "Peppermint Twist" which coincidentally released in 1961 as well, lol.

  17. In junior high shop class we messed around with acrylics. I made a huge Chevy Bowtie emblem Keychain for my dad. Laminated three 1/4" pieces together, blue in the middle. Looked cool but way too big to put in a pocket!

Absolutely killer, you didn't go to far. Now for the Cowl Vent! :)

I'd love to make some for my ride!

  20. @Moriarity stupid question but is the red on the little knobs a different material?

It sure looks different than the larger ones in your photos.

  22. Do you do the polishing on the lathe with them still attached to the stock? Then cut them free and drill/tap after? Just curious.

This is fun! How about some red and white rubber for throttle, brake and clutch pedals also! The wow factor would be even farther off the charts. Mark you know you’ve exceeded the fun limit for any mortal human Right?

  29. The late Bob Wheeler who used to make all the knobs for Night Prowlers had a Cal Custom style steering wheel in his F-100 that he'd done. It was badass. Not common, but it has been done. E
