Here are some sign images that I have tucked away. Also check out http://www.spaceagecity.com/googie/ or search "Googie Archetecture" on google.com
a few more i have shot in the past few years... san leandro, ca san jose. ca from my home town of lakeland, fl and this one is for hamber "vintage roadside" also located at the Lincoln-Mercury dealership....been there since the 60's and was recently rebuilt and now working again!!
So cool to see one of these roto-spheres restored and spinning. Of the roughly 230 produced only about 17 are still out there and out of those only about 7 are fully functional. One of the most amazing neon signs ever created. Thanks for posting it! P.S. Restoration runs around $15,000.00.
Those roto-speres are the bee's knees. I think there is an old youtube video of them in action. Pure genius back then...the LED will never surpass the mystique and awesome magic of neon in my opinion.
Here it is. I don't know how to post it straight to the board. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Leuut7nITdI
Thanks for posting the link! The video was posted on Youtube by a friend of ours after she went down to Louisiana and met with the inventor of the rotosphere. He invented a few other signs that were just as unique. Sadly just about all of them have been scrapped.
