I have to admit those don't look half bad, for radials. The proportions look pretty respectable and that's a good 2/3's the battle.

No body on frame today, sorry fellas. However, my son and I did finish multiple small things in preparation.

I taught him how to run a tap and he finished the holes for the floor boards while I finished the last of the buffing. There are still some very minor details to be buffed but they'll be done when the car is 98% complete.

I also FINALLY made a pattern for Olson of my stereo.

Bob had planned to paint the doors today but that got pushed to Monday. Model A grill shell (sorry Chip) and deck lid to follow.

For those who were interested in my lift here are some pics.

Still no body-on-frame-action for your sick little minds, sorry. Funeral, baby blessing, seventeen people in my house right now but I got away for an hour today.

Oh, funeral and blessing are not for the same person!

Doors are now painted and already have a layer of dust on them. For some reason all you can see is the dust and the photo makes them look like shit. They don't. Really. They'll get cut and buffed this week.

Dash has been skim coated. Bob will shape the lower edge with a slight reveal to emulate a '32.
    1444541380078.jpg

I bent up a few lines tonight for the trans cooler. The bare ends will be flared and I'll use rubber tubing to connect them in an effort to isolate any twisting or vibrations. Ends are staggered so that the clamps on the hoses are easier to access.
    1444541460236.jpg

Waaaay back we discussed the vulnerability of the 75+ year old split rear bones. Bob and I decided to beef up the rear end by running an additional set of bars inboard of the frame rails. Templates are made and the bar is in place.
    1444541654669.jpg

And a shot of the '28 grill shell I'm using. Needs a little work and it's pitted, but it will get several coats of high build primer and be painted maroon.

More this coming week I hope.

  4. Sorry for the funeral, happy for the blessing and cool to have progress, Eric. Oh the doors look dusty!!

All looking real good.:D JW

  5. You will need to support those trans lines as they will still fatigue if unrestrained. This is what I did for my power glide. JW

Sounds a lot like life, some sad days, some happy days and family and friends to help celebrate the good times and to mourn the bad times. Yes, you want to support those lines to prevent failures, otherwise keep up the good work.

    Thanks Antii, I appreciate it!

So Tuesday six hot rodders from the Netherlands stopped by. @corvettesander and friends and family. We hung out at my house for a short while, I showed them my '50 shoebox and '54 COE then went to Bob's. I'll post the pics Sander posted on Facebook of their visit.

What a GREAT bunch of guys! If you're not familiar with @corvettesander search here for his COE build. Seriously cool ramp truck!

Bob's been working on little things like finishing the dash and getting it ready for paint. Hope to see that, the deck lid and the grill shell all in color soon.

  11. Its really cool to hang with a bunch of guys like that, or with anything you are way keen on. Just damn nice!! Also some interesting items besides yours too.:D JW

No, those are all Bob's. However I do have an original T coupe in running condition stuffed away in a secret location...

  14. Ok, now you have to give us some info on this T Coupe. Sounds very cool indeed. JW

  15. Have had conversations with Sander . Him and his father seem like great and skilled folks . Sander took care of me and my collection of MC plates . How's the new shop coming along ? Wife should be getting excited about her little roadster . Blue

Yeah, they're neat people for sure. I think I may put the shop off until spring, not sure yet. I just have too many other things going on right now and want to be deeply involved in it when the time comes, from pouring concrete, to framing, to stucco, to the roof.... I can do some of it but the stuff I can't do I want to learn even if I never use it again.

    Whoops, hit send too early.

Went to Bob's again yesterday. Sorry, no pics. The deck lid and dash are now in primer and will get final bodywork this week. Bob added a small character line to the bottom of the dash to give it a little visual appeal.

I polished brass fittings and made changes to the trans cooler lines. Polishing small parts is a pain in the ass but if anyone ever says they prefer "brass era T's" I can throw them on the ground, shove them under the car and show them some polished brass, ha ha ha!

Soooo, I need to find three female 5/16" inverted flare to 5/16" hose adapters (I have one), polish them, and the trans cooler is done.

Need to pressure test the brakes with air and soapy water and fix any leaks...

Need to silicone the frame webbing down...

And then the body meets the frame.

    Next weekend maybe?

  18. This is the part that really takes time! I remember doing my Touring and getting it ready to fire when I had to pull the heads.

No kidding Trent! All these little details tend to be the "one step forward, two steps back" time of the build. Me, personally, wouldn't have taken the time to polish the brass fittings, but the rest of the build warrants those details.

Sadly, we did spot a hairline crack on the rear panel near the passenger taillight. Yeah, it's getting fixed.

    Two steps back.

  20. I like your plans for your shop, Im the same as I build everything at home (and wire it). I can understand all the polishing as its all in balance with the rest of the build, and what a build it is !!:cool::D JW

I know exactly what you mean, I am always looking to learn new things, even if I know I won't actually put it to practical use, still it is great to help understand why they charge what they do for their work.

Sanding, sanding, sanding. There were a few sags in the clear on the inside of the doors. Not likely they'd ever be seen, but ya know ya can't just leave 'em there! 1445720956568.jpg
