Cool!! The Show " FLASH FORWARD " is shooting 2 houses from mine starting tomorrow, they might not be stoked with me when i start grinding and beating on metal!! I'm curious to see how they deal with it when they're trying to roll sound!!:D

Great threat. Looking forward to seeing more
Nobody shows the forming process in their threads... just "heres the one I made earlier"... Would be helpful to see in progress shots of the forming as well, please?

    Thanx guys!!

Hey HASTY, I was looking through my pics and i realized i don't have many "GOOD" step by step pics. I'm totally learning how to shape metal and i wish i could help people on how to do it right but i can't. It's pretty much trial and error for me still and i don't have a real methodical way of shaping these panels. The way i do it is i make a template, i transfer it to metal, i slowly trim it down by measuring and clamping it down on the car, then shape it with the tear drop mallet, then roll it on the wheel......fit on the car, repeat!

    Maybe one day??

Can't you hold a camera while you wheel Ian? Hmmm, no skills.

I asked above about a source for E wheel anvils etc. Any recommendations?

Those sail panels look unbelievable. The most impressive part of your work is how few filler panels you use. So many guys use the patchwork method. They get there eventually but yours looks so neat.

    Thanx a lot guys!!!:)

My english wheel is not a high priced one but seems to work just fine for what i do!! The only problem was it had very small lines on the dies where it changes shape and it was marking the sheet metal pretty good so Chris Casny took them to his shop and knocked down those lines on his lathe and it's night and day!!! CRAIG'S AFFORDABLE TOOLS , online. I also raised it 8" by welding some square tubing to the legs. Now the height is perfect!!

Jeesh! Damn Ian! Knock it OFF already!

By the way, not that it applies to this project, but at GNRS last year, another HAMBer and myself were chatting with an old-timer that teaches at Wyotech and he had made a lower die using a skateboard wheel for some complex shape-rolling with the E-wheel. I've been meaning to mention it to you for awhile. Again, not saying for use with this project, but since you brought up the E-wheel you're using I thought it was a good moment. Plus.... I'm sure you have a ton of wheels rolling around somewhere. HAHA!

Dammit Ian! Why don't you live just a tad closer so I can persuade you into taking one side of the metal when I'm rolling my roof panel for the Murray.

    Friggin awesome!

  18. Most excellent lines, Ian!! Add this car to the short list of nicely chopped coupes.

  27. Wow...your sail panel work is really nice...

Beautiful profile on the top as well. Really enjoy your threads...there's a ton of chop threads that begin, then drop off the map...always look forward to your finish work.

    Thanks for sharing.
