In my search for early custom car photos I came across (auction site) a nice collection of mid to late 40's Hot Rod and Dry Lake Race photos. They where all far out of my budget and most of them not what I was looking for. So these are the photos as they apeared on the auction site. I do not own them!

Ofcoars I was a bit disapointed not to find more custom cars in the background or even complete photos of custom cars..... but I do also appreciate all early Hot Rod photos and especially these type of snap shots, which give a great look at how the spectators or drivers enjoyed these races.

I was hoping for more photos of these.....

or perhaps the light colored Carson topped 38 Ford Cornvertible in thebackground here...

But most where of the real deal Hot Rods and Lake Racers.... I know a lot of you guys will ove them...

Absolutely outstanding! Thanks for posting those. So cool to see the pic of the knuckle in there too. Funny.... I didn't see any rat rods or "bobbers".

The best group of pix. I think I've ever seen, thanks for posting. Couldn't help but notice there isn't one over weight white haired guy in a lawn chair anywhere.

I could look at those for hours. They have so much detail and really capture what traditional Rodding should be about. Thank you so much for sharing.

    Ohh - thank you!!!

    Bookz is right.

THIS is what the HAMB is about!

NOT those fucking OSR style junk and not "Bobber" trucks....

This is where it's at man.

And I do the same thing Rikster does. I look at the old race photos searching the backgrounds for sweet customs. It seems like there was always some dude showing up to an event in a kick ass custom and parking on the out edge of all the action....

    Love it.

    Thanks Rikster.

  30. i like em mucho thanks
ok so are these still for sale? ... $$$ ?
....and what price was too much?... the money we spend on trj and other books would seem that these in the right hands could be turned inta a book of thier own ...
but ... posting them here may get some info on who's whatzit's and when and how and who owns em now..
