  1. Ok, as winter approaches I do my usual duties of making sure that all of my cars/trucks that I drive in the snow are good to go. They are all 4x4's of some sort, and I have had very old ones too. It got me thinking, I'd like to see other 4x4's. Although not entirley on topic, I did use mine for dragging more hot rod parts home than anything. I remember Ryan posting a video of a 1955-56-57 Chev/GMC pickup 4x4 going up I belive Pikes peak. That was awesome!

    So, lets see em! If the mods feel this is too OT, please delete it. And please, lets keep this in our year boundrys. I don't wanna see newer shit. I did do a search and didn't find anything 4x4 specific.

    My Dad, Brother and I all have 1960 Ford factory 4x4's. The green one is mine, the white one is my Dads, and the short box big back window is my Brothers.

  7. You know Chris, I knew there was something I liked about you. It sure as hell isn't your sense of humor.

    Growing up in Pittsburgh I have been surrounded by 4x4s and have grown mighty attached to them.

    So just to let you know I have a whole other build going on;

    I should have it completed within the next month. It will be a full utility based vintage 4x4 with tall skinny tires. I have so many plans for this one.

    BTW...Just got to see your spread in Hop Up. Loved it!!

    Here's "Max", a 56 Willys I had - 283, T89, twin-stick transfer case, Jackman Wheels, engine-turned dash panel with full S-W. I had this shipped up to Kodiak when I first moved up there in 1976.

  11. Serious questions for you;

    How are those NTD tires to drive on? Are they pretty good all around??

    BTW...I love your truck!!!

    Well, mine is not a factory built truck, but it is a 4x4 and it is a pre 64 body. Its my work truck which hauls stuff and plows my driveway all winter long. Just wish I could get better defrosters in it, by the time I'm getting where I'm going, its just starting to clear the windshield.

    The last picture is what I started with. Gene

    The ndt's are great they work well on the road, ride nice and a excellent in the snow and mud. They even do decent on rocks (when 4 wheeling).

    I think I got around 13,000 or so out of the first set. I liked them enough to buy another set of them...when these wear out I will buy another set.

  15. I've always wondered. They make a 9.00x16 which will be perfect on my truck. I have those 36" Military Goodyear XT bias plies that I will run first. I also may consider the STA Superlugs. I really like the way they look.

    Thanks again for the info.

  18. Thats very cool. My Buddy Shaun has an IHC just like that, and four wheel drive, too. I had 16" all terrain bias plys on my 60 Ford, they went great in the mud and snow, but not too good in the sand (very skinny). They were cheap, too...like 65.00 each or something. Looked bad-ass, too.

  19. Here was our ultimate. It was a WWII weapons carrier. It had a home made utilit box on the back, and the "cab" was the remains of a 1935-1936 Ford pickup cab. Hood and grill were orriginal. My Dad paid 50.00 for this on some farm. We got it running and driving, it would crawl about anywere. It didn't have anything for a roll bar other than that exhaust tubbing so we didn't get too out of control. Never did much with it so Dad sold it to some WWII freak who uses it on his property moving stuff around :D

    A couple years ago I tried to sell it, but got no interest, so I updated a lot of stuff and built a new engine for it last year. Got so much in it now, I'll have to keep it forever, but thats OK. Gene

  25. It's a runway crash truck by American Lafrance on a IHC M 3-4 chassis, one of about 235 built. If anybody has info on these trucks I'd like to hear from them.
