I don't know about that but wasn't/isn't there a club of "T" men that go around to shows and demonstrate that they can completely take a part a T and put it back together in a short time with the crowd standing around watching them do it..

if you watch it enough times you can see that there isn't an engine/trans/torque tube/pedals/fuel lines/wiring...etc. And it looks like they yank all 4 wheels off at the same time

  9. yes and it looks like the rear passengers "job" was to pull the back of the front seat. and Stan and Ollie kick out the sides of the cowl. pretty cool stunt.

Yeah, I think they just sat the actors on the seats and piled the parts around them just so, then when they yanked the wheels off everything just fell apart, maybe helped by the actors.

Wasn't there a Buster Keaton movie made about the same time where a Model-T gets "Compacted" as 2 trolleys pass on either side of it? The smashed car rolls slowly down the street in the aftermath. I always thought that was cool movie making.

Something similar happens in their movie "Blotto". In the last scene, Mrs. Laurel (Anita Garvin) finds them in a speakeasy with her shotgun. As they try to get away in a Model "T" taxi, she takes one shot at it, and it disintegrates in much the same way.

I like the one when they get caught between two street cars.

  14. They certainly had some fun with cars. :D

  15. The Laurel & Hardy Trolley T from "Hog Wild" is on display at the Petersen Museum in L.A. Hopefully it will survive the remodel and reopening next month.

Two Tars is another good one, lots of car wrecking, a cop's motor cycle gets flattened and in the end they get squeezed by a train in a tunnel, cracks me up every time

I remember an old Street Rodder article talking with Stan Betz, who collected vintage movie models. They used to make 2 foot long metal models of the cars that they'd blow up or crash. The old version of CGI.

The great thing about the two smashed up Laurel and Hardy's T's, the one above between the street cars and this one, is that they were built to move under their own power by the studio guys. Had to be a fun place to work.

You're right flyin-t! There is a lot going on with that right front wheel, notice that is has two rows of spokes and a larger fellow than a normal T wheel. Wonder what the steering setup was?

So this is the third good looking 32! The Deuce, the bow tie and now this.

  28. LOL I had an uncle names Buster, well that actually wasn't his name and I never called him that but the story goes that my mom was tongue tied and couldn't say brother so it came out buster, and everyone just called him that. I never understood why she just didn't call him by his name but who knows about depression era kids. :confused:o_O:D

Looking at that T of buster's and some of the stuff I have seen built here on the HAMB it is a wonder that more cars don't end up like that. :D

Another funny scene with cars is when they accidentally drive through a sawmill and the car gets cut in 1/2. I can't find the scene anywhere to post. Anyone remember that one?

  30. Yes I do. I wouldn't know where to look for it though.

When I was little Laurel and Hardy and Abbot and Costello were common Sunday afternoon movies on the TV.
