late august I sent him items to chrome, November 6th he messaged me here saying I gave up on plating and was sending parts back, haven't heard from him since and no parts back

yes he is a hamber, but has not been on here since nov 6th, that was when he said he is not going to do my parts and is sending them back, dummy me never got his phone number

 

This may not turn out well.

 

I would check the C/L of that area. If he has an add on there it might include his number.

 

If you can find out who he is and where he lives maybe one of us hoosiers can help. I live in the Indy area but travel all over the state. Maybe he would hand them off but is unwilling to pay shipping costs. Let me know if I can help.

I know that area well. Clara is lined with car dealerships and shopping. Wonder if its a shipping and p.o. box rental store? Let me see what I can find out.

Google chrome plating Muncie Indiana. Several shops come up with phone numbers. Maybe give them a ring and see if they know him? The best known Chrome shop in the area is C.M.F. Custom Metal Finishing. Phone 1-866-489-4058. Josh from the HAMB used to work there and may know him too.

I gotta ask....how did you find this guy in the 1 st place? did you talk to him on the phone, meet him in person? what kind of parts are we talking about?

 

I live here and have never herd of this guy or chrome shop in area several years ago there was a small shop that ran a short time just off s. Madison, did't last . If I here anything I will post it

 

There was a fairly long thread on here where he was going to do plating with minimum prep work. Customer would be responsible for the bulk of the prep and save money on labor compared to typical plating work. IIRC he said he worked full time for a plating shop and was doing this on the side. I remember a few people who'd sent him stuff seemed pleased when they got their parts back from him after plating.

 

40STANDARD, I found him here, cant believe no one knows him????, just 1 box of items, some are for my coupe, and some for my grandsons mini bike

 

I stopped by the mail box address today. The UPS store said they couldn't tell me if he still had a mailbox there or not. I said, that makes me think he still does. She was hard to read but I think he's still picking up mail there. How about sending him a letter from a lawyer or just a plain old letter asking for your stuff back and see if it comes back RTS? If he is receiving mail there you will know it.

 

I sent him a couple flathead water pumps and got them back with chrome just as he'd promised. I even posted my approval on his thread. Sorry you got hosed. I don't have any more info than you already have.

 

I would be visiting this thread every day if members here were trying to help me. Looks like I'm more concerned than chopt31 is? Good luck.

 

Is it possible the guy got caught dipping parts he wasnt supposed to at his day job, then got fired... Possibly leaving parts at said day job?

Maybe call area chrome shops and see if something similar played out... He had to be dipping stuff somewhere
