Yup, its now a coupe but if you keep welding it might end up being a 4 door sedan

Amazing something out nothing.... Carry On!

Big car show here in Helsinki during the Easter! Took the Packard to the show! Great selection of cool Kustom cars from Finland in the show. 89CB1ACF-EF34-4456-A7E0-2F2499340B58.jpeg 60887FA3-DCD4-4A3D-9080-8F7701D98801.jpeg C0866CC2-65F3-4DC5-8AAE-C940ABDCB7CF.jpeg

I would love to get to Finland, I have some club brothers over there. There are so many cool cars/bikes, not to mention a beautiful country!

Hat’s off, this is really creative. Flat iron for the bead line right? I wish I’d had seen the B pillars, tell your buddy not to scrap them when he’s made his pattern, the interior latch is not reproduced.

Thank you. Not flat iron but square tube for upper bead and square tube cut in half for lower beam.

Got me a motor! I know this is not what purists would like to see. But for me this is the package I want to put in my hot rod. The running SBC came with a 350-trans and all necessary parts. And the price was cheap delivered to my door. The motor will look as they came out in 1955. Big thing for me was that I know these engines way better than old hotrod motors like Cad 331, Early Hemi, or Olds Rocket. Even though I wanted one they are very pricey. Also one would like to have a manual trans in a hotrod, and to be honest I was thinking that alot. And of course a Ford Flathead would had turned the period correct era into early fifties, which I prefer the most. Oh well, I'm happy with this and happy to have a motor for the car.

  9. if youre overseas i would work with what i can find, very few of those engines made it overseas, unless you bought a french flathead v8 from the 70s or 80s, they are likely unobtainable.

  10. When you step on the loud pedal and the engine makes hotrod sounds, pushes you back in your seat and smacks a smile on your face, your coupe can't tell what kind of engine it has.

Looks immediately better with the right parts. I guess I need more carbs. 554FA14E-1E09-4B5C-87A1-1A2896D2B35E.jpeg B828C2DB-6954-4011-843A-D945583C80C8.jpeg 15D5DC05-FC27-43EA-855A-89AFAE740413.jpeg 95D8B066-4A33-4C5E-AB27-BD0473D31711.jpeg

Haha! I installed the engine from below by lifting the car front up. Quite a job but it is there now between the rails! :) 4CCF9384-415A-4603-9500-F38333A1D9FA.jpeg

I scored big time from Facebook marketplace. Got me all front brake and steering parts for less than half price. They are all new and the exactly same set which I wanted, even the correct bolt pattern. (I need to have disc brakes for inspection to get the V8 approved.)

Also found me some goodies from a local swap meet yesterday.

@attitudor you are truly making something out of nothing, well done sir. Build threads like this are what made the HAMB what it is today. You have a vision through obstacles and adversity. Great to see another pile of parts turned into something that burns rubber!! My first hot rod was done just like yours-something from nothing. Awesome man.

I found some parts in swap meet on Sunday. The Fiat 600 tank is pretty good, I can have a small trunk with that. Cut the firewall to mock up the engine. Looks pretty good.

Hello. Back at the hot rod build again. Primer Magazine made a nice interview on YouTube. I'm here telling about my hot rod build and my other car, Packard. Sorry, it's in Finnish.

I haven’t posted for a while but I have made good progress during the cold winter here in Finland. Motor and trans are in place, gauge panel is in place, trunk drip rails done, rear crossmember finished. Also managed to buy all kind of good parts and started to assemble them in the car. The front axle will be a 37-40 with 4” drop. IMG_1343.jpeg IMG_1345.jpeg

    Man-oh-man.
You and your chopped and channeled coupe are sooooo inspiring. Entertaining, too.
    Really looking good.
It's gonna be a great hot rod when you have it all Finnished.

    :)

Those doors are rough! Looks like you'll be able to save them though, which is great. A lot of stuff like that just gets scrapped here, and while it's a lot of work to fix, it's a shame to see it lost. I like what you're doing here.

Yes, the doors are so miserable. I tried to find better ones from here. But then again, I like welding at it is so much fun to fix them piece by piece. First I made them hold in one piece and now they even function very well, so I think the worst part is over. :)

Testing different colors is real life. I have heard that some people use Photoshop. :)
I was looking for fifties spirit with the light blue. It will be kinda ”survivor” theme but not a ”rat rod”.
What do you think about blue? Is it better than green?

I kinda like the green, but the robin's egg blue color is very mid 50's looking, I could see that, too.

Henry Ford was right: Black it should be. After a weekend full of sanding we have black primer. It feels so good to see the car in this stage! Also removed the rivets from the trunklid and welded the old patch panel in.
