Mopar guys. I have an auto trans from a 1972 Atlas motor home with a 413 Mopar engine. How do I I.D. this thing to know what it is and what it can bolt up to?
I could not imagine it being anything other than a 727. And it sounds like you have a 413 should leave it behind it and find a nice old car to put it in and burn a tire. A picture would help also.
I was thinking of putting it in a 36 Packard coupe. What do you think? I'll see about taking a picture.
Well we did build a 460 (Chrysler Power 1997 $1500 Econo Big Block) from a 400.Perhaps that is what he was thinking of. 452 is the best head 383/440 head when ported for steelheads. 906 isnext and early 5_ _ series heads last. I really like the late 452 heads with the small plugs. They port really well and also have the plug cooling holes which can be easily transferred to the block. 62 and later 727 . Early trans has a rear pump (can be push started) Push button cable shift. Otherwise the same inside. Different spline on input shaft on early trans so converter choice is different. Usually swap for a late sixties early seventies input shaft. Pre 62 trans have a different crank and were for the cast iron torqueflight. don
OK great! this gives me a lot to work on. Although the more answers I get the more questions come to mind. I'm gonna research some of this. I don't know much Mo-par. Maybe I'll convert!
That chart looks really helpful. I gotta go see if I can find any numbers. Now I know where to look. My son and I are seriously thinking about putting that 413 in the Packard.
