I have had this old girl for thirty years. I need to clean out. I hope the HAMB community can ID the trans. It is probably from the 50's and very light duty. Hudson Jet? I hope to find it a good home. It appears it is derived from an earlier trans that was a floor shift. It would be great to find a shift top to fit it. I wonder if a Model A could be made to fit. I have been looking thru an old Motors Manual and think it is Studebaker/ Willis. Anyone know of an earier usage with a top mounted shifter to fit?

There's a thread over on ChevyTalk.Org, I believe in the 49-54 forum, titles, "missing plug?",a posting by rrausch where he did this EXACT conversion. You may be able to message him for what he did. I would do a link if I knew how. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Borg warner t 84. Used in Studebaker champion, henry j, rambler, Willy's, and many other small engine independants. The overdrive is popular with the model a crowd, and many others.

    Right.

"Borg warner t 84. Used in Studebaker champion, henry j, rambler, Willy's..."

look's just like my '51 Stude and '52 Willys 3-speed stick OD's. The Stude had a rear u-joint and the Willys had a cast-iron "CV" type joint. They were interchangeable.

Thanks Squirrel. The thing is, I was an X-Ray/CAT Scan Tech for 32 years, and a CAT Scanner is just basically a computerized X-Ray machine, and I was very good at it. BUT, I've never really had much interest in learning the PC thing. I keep saying it may be time to take a class, but........................................we all know how that is. 10. most early Studes had the u-joint at the rear except V8 and they look like a Ford in front....why are we thinking floor shift....50'S Willy's Jeepster's had side shift....give us some numbers off the case....
