You're right Rik. I should make it clear that it was his son that the guy knew. And YES Jimmy Summers has left us awhile back.

This car looks cool, I think it's a 47 merc. I would nice to see a few more 41-48 mercs at the show!

Axle, this is the most exciting event I have seen devlop in years. It may turn out to be the biggest part of the GNRS. I am so pleased to hear Mercury Charlie will be there, Nadine and Charlie are real ICONs of current classic car customizing. I hope Jessee James is included, and I'm sure he will be, he is also certainly one of the major torch bearers of the current traditional scene. So many great Merc's, so little time. Appt. Bob to do the outside scene is a cool move!! Good Luck to you dudes on this fab. project.~Sololobo~

Thanks Sledge ! The 6.50 Firestone is available with a 4" whitewall and that's perfect in my eyes.Which tire exactly do you have on your '40,I think it's the 6.50 right ? I'd love to try 16 inchers on my Merc too, really like the look and your whole car anyway. Most excellent.

And to bring this post back to topic...I think Max Farrell's (51Gringo on here) super nice '51 Mercury would add some more eye-candy to the show...

Which Joe Firueroa merc?He also had that famous 51 made into a hartop with rolled pans. The candy red radical machine was built by Joe Bailon in the 80s.

  14. I forgot about Joe Fig's other Merc. I saw a photo of it in front of San Gabriel Mission in some article, I can't remember exactly. But I think he is looking for his most recent car. I tried getting Joe's # to Axle but was unsuccessful.

Rikster is the man! Your knowledge of kustoms (old and new) seems limitless! I really hope you can make it out for this show!

Kevan, you're confusing that car with the one built by Dick Fitzwell. I believe that Merc was sold to Ilene Eulick and later restored by Adolf Olivermuph. I know it was found in a field in Upstate New Jersey by Buster Cherry.

But on a more serious note, Axle, I emailed my friend Bill Monteleone and am waiting for his reply. He just sold this '47 Merc that was chopped 4" by Dick Dean:

He did everything on the car himself, except having Dick Dean lay out the roof and tack weld it. I believe the car is now in New Mexico...I will call him again tomorrow and see if I can put you in touch with the new owner.

Axle, what about the Coachcraft '41 Merc with the Sedanca DeVille style roof on it? I believe it is restored now and painted silver...it was at the Amelia Island Concours with some other Coachcraft cars...maybe Rikster has contact info.

Rikster, that red '41 Merc is bitchin'...hopefully somebody knows who owns it.

I got my thinking cap on for you Axle...

This one would be fantastic to have there... and put next to the Paul Planette Coachcraft 1940 Mercury restored by Derby Ahlstone a year or so ago... and which will be at the event.

But unfortunately I do not have any contact info on this one... anybody else knows who owns it.. or restored it?

celebration. We are very excited to experience what people will be
    talking about for years....

Thanks for the kind words guys. This has been a huge undertaking but something i'll look back in the years to come, and just grin, knowing i pulled it off.

I currently have Kirt White trying to bring us the Fred Rowe Merc out from Florida.

I have confirmed the Ralph Testa Merc.

As far as the "Book of Love" Merc, This is the update i just received this morning.

The Book of Love Merc was built by Dick Dean in the late 80's/early 90's for Harry Mohoff.
Lee Lucero and his wife Susan fell in love with the car so much that after they couldn't buy it they had their own version built and also chopped by Dick Dean. Thats why the close similarity.
Harry Mohoff has moved to Lake Havasu, sold the car, and it might be in Victorville or Lancaster California.

    The search resumes.................
