One very complete and intact 1962 Ford Fairlane 500 Barn Find. Original V8 car (engine does run), 3 speed transmission and just 2 doors. VIN 2R41L130185 confirms the 221 V8, built in San Jose, Corinthian White exterior and 500 trim. The car was rescued from storage (last registered in 1973), cleaned, engine fired and evaluated. 84,000 miles on the odometer. The small 221 V8 was only available in '62 and '63 adding to the unique originality of this find. Here is what I can tell you about the car. The Good: Very complete car, 2 door, engine runs good and does not smoke, 8" drop out style rear, all glass is excellent, title in hand, structurally solid (wheel wells, engine compartment, unibody rails, shock towers), rockers and door jambs in good shape, rolls freely, doors shut nicely, hood, trunk and roof all straight, practically new tires, new ignition tumbler/key, new water pump, new fuel pump, seats are solid but need new covers, parking brake operational, transmission works without noise, car will drive and shift. Generator converted to a delco internally regulated alternator. Hear it run (the rope has been replaced with a real V-belt) The bad: Floors & trunk have some soft spots, drivers lower quarter needs replacement, drivers door dented, passenger quarter has some damage/dented, needs master cylinder/brakes not working, door key missing, interior needs overhaul, trunk latch missing. This is a great candidate for full restoration or with a few components could be driven. This car hasn't seen the road for 40 years so it would need a good looking over however its a great start. Will need to be towed, selling as is.
