Mazmanian's Willys when it first ran the hemi engine. They ran B/GS in 1963 with Bones' small block and then switched to the hemi late that year. The photo may be from Pomona where it was the first A/GS into the 9's. This was just before the car was repainted in candy red.

I think that there is a thread going around about this car being found.

I wish that I did, I think that it was featured in a magazine back in the day and I thought that it was a cool car. This is the only picture that I could find doing an internet search. If you have any more pictures and information on the car post them. Also do you know which magazine it was in?

John Smyser's "Terrifying Toronado," though it didn't terrify the competition, but instead the track photographers as it was a handful to drive, finally mounting the guard rail at Irwindale. Smyser was a top fuel guy in the early '60s, and got his nitro at Blair's. We pitted next to him at San Gabriel when he was running his fueler, and once he made fun of how I had fabricated the motor mounts on the car in my avatar. Yes, I was not the best fabricator, but they did the job. A couple of races later I noticed someone welding on Smyser's car on... yes, his motor mounts! I didn't always get the last laugh, but did this time!!

True, it was literally found in a barn a couple of years ago in really bad condition, the body was there, not sure about the rest of it...restoration started but as far as I know, no news in the past couple of years...would be great to see it again in restored form
