Not sure yet if ever. I'm a high school ag/shop/automotive teacher trying to do my best to get kids involved in traditional hot rodding. Right now it's just a teaching tool and conversation piece. But I'm sure temptation will eventually get the best of me and it will wind up between the frame rails of a 31 traditional roadster build we will be working on.
Now that is bad ass cool......Sure hope the kids like it and get what this little motor is all about.
I don't know much history other than it was raced at Bonneville. And possibly used in a boat later on. Pretty consistent with Eddy Meyer style. That info is all I have so far. Going to do a lot more research.
Bless you for your work in Ag & "industrial arts"...learned more about life in those high school classes than I did in college and the Master's degree that followed. Hope someone can provide more info....would love to see this in a late-40's style roadster!
What a beautiful V8-60 I have one that came with my 34 a 1936 or 1937 model with insert bearings. I know very little about the Flatheads, but speed parts and equipment for the 60 are rare pieces. I am sure someone far more knowing in this will point out all the cool and rare parts bolted on your gem. Great Pics of a beauty!
My avatar had a V8 60 and 3:78 rearend, the 60's came with 4:44 rearend to keep the rpms up. They lack torque and don't really wake up until about 2500 rpm. When used in sprint cars and boats they were wound as tight as possible, run good at higher rpm. I wasn't happy with the performance in a street car, my warmed over 4 banger Model A pickup would out run it up to about 6o mph then it ran out of rpm's.
