  4. @Austinrod -

As I understand it, your intention is to build a "street-able" TRIBUTE to Jim McLennan's Model A drag coupe ... vice an accurate CLONE.

As cool as it would be to chop your coupe another 2 inches, set the engine back (with exhaust pipes exiting under the cowl, paint the "CHAMPION SPEED SHOP" lettering & graphics on the doors, etc., etc. ... IMHO, a "clone" just wouldn't be a very fun car to drive on the street.

I say just run the exhaust out the back ... fab a full hood ... punch a bunch of louvers on the trunk lid ... paint it bright red (without the lettering & graphics) ... run some polished moon discs (on appropriate tires) ... and drive the heck out of your "tribute" coupe!

It will be a tribute so no setting the engine back and what you said is exactly what I have planned for it except with lettering and pinstriping.

There might be a little surprise I have at the end of all this stay tuned......

Just put the new 15 inch steering wheel on.
Looks better than the 17 inch white 1940 steering wheel that was on it

You need to rechop that thing man. To pull that off the champion look, it has to be hammered!

  25. Do what you want but you will never pull off the comp look with snap on fake Moon discs. You need the real thing. Go all the way or it will just look like your adding doo- dads on it. I like the direction your heading just need a harder edge to it. Just sayin'

My coupe and others had pop ons ,look closely at the first pictures I posted and you see they are pop ons .
Also the satan deuce coupe had them on too
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1428107072.212441.jpg
Even the recreation for the satan deuce has pop ons
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1428107412.627276.jpg

Plus these are real mooneyes usa discs I might swap them out for different ones when the time is right

I like the chop and stance it has now. I wouldn't change it unless you are going to really go after it and build a race car. The 4" chop looks perfect and it's totally drive able.
With the full hood, it will still be a nod to the Champion coupe.

Needs to be chopped as much as legally possible. On a model a coupe that is 5.5 inches. Everything else is spot on. I like it, and I'm a comp coupe freak!
